Being a good leader is to instill the confidence and skill worth of the ones that aspire to accept the challenge of change. Churchill’s success has been measured through the difficult challenge that faced his country during the battle of World War 2. Churchill was also a measurable success because of his passion in problem resolution and the ability to take the risks needed to help better shape and support his country. Through history and as well as present politicians being successful does not always end with being a good leader or having great management skills, however the ability to continue to bring encouragement and growing faith in those you are leading is a measured success that only the future will be able to measure. Leadership is often not recognized until years later when we have had the opportunity to review the actions and plans of the individual.
Realistic authors wanted to present ordinary characters, which like ordinary people in real life are affected by social parameters. In The Death of Ivan Ilyich, the reader gets a clear example of this as it seems that the protagonist of the story, Ivan, lives his life and makes all of his decisions only in accordance with what is socially acceptable. The first example of this is during Ivan’s schooling. Ivan finds himself not only accepting, but also indulging in acts he once found “horrid and made him feel disgusted with himself” (1428). However, once “he saw that such actions were done by people of good position and that they did not regard them as wrong”, he was able to disregard them, also (1428).
Augustus seems to rule with his wealth and influence over the people, and those in government positions. In my opinion he is more focused on keeping the Aristocracy happy, for as according to Crone in her examination of pre-industrial societies, the holders of wealth are the key to maintaining leadership and order. Michael Haukaas made an excellent statement as well saying “Himself being wealthy is not enough, as evidence by the war following the death of his father at the hands of Brutus et all”. This statement shows how Augustus also had control over the soldiers as well as the power of his wealth. Just like the podcasts mentioned, Augustus was a powerful man due to his financial stability and the fact that he had made a lot of loyal and close friends with the men of elite
He wanted to protect him from the bad influences, but he was only scared of his son’s gift because he didn’t know what it meant for him. He didn’t know that painting made Asher happy, sometimes. Growing up he began to accept it little by little. “He seemed unable to believe it. Almost despite himself, his dark eyes glittered with pride.” When he began to realize how famous and important his son was becoming he tried to accept the gift and him.
One of the main characters in the book Lafayette who didn’t want to be like other kids in the projects when his friend Rickey started influencing him to do some bad things, and he started being like him even though he knew that was bad but he choose to confirm and take that route because it was a normal behavior for the projects children. However Lafayette brother pharaohs choose not to be like the projects kids and he went after his choice he wanted to be different and achieve something, just like his cousin Dawn did by finishing high school and going into collage. That could also be seen in the movie mean girl when the girl Katie came back to the united states she made a choice to confirm to the teenage life in America is like because she thought that otherwise they would have never accepted her, so she tried to fit in and she was considered to be a mean girl just because she wanted to follow the crowd. As stated in the article “Sadness of Conformity” that conformity makes it difficult to hang into things that’s important to you and the sad thing is that you don’t even realize you lost it and when you do it’s too late. “You lose something priceless and precious when you are forced to be like everyone
People, and children in particular, need rules. Despite the fact that Hitler was an evil dictator, he led a powerful infamous army. The people under his reign didn’t necessarily respect him as a person, but they respected him as a ruler and did as he wanted for fear of negative consequence. A child is much like that. A child that has a parent who sets down firm rules will turn out better behaved than a child raised in
It has been said that he is admired by the white community as well for his constant struggle with trying to fix the mistakes of those that were in office before him while pleasing Americans and making things more beneficial for them (Caucasians) simultaneously. Although the two faces on the cartoon along with their respective time periods are relatively different, the missions of the leaders are very much so alike. Some may feel as though it is over exaggerate and unfair to compare these two dominant leaders to one another. However, with careful observation of both leaders and their work along with the results of such, it is incontestable that Martin Luther King Jr. paved the way for other African Americans such as Obama and others that may potentially follow
His amount of power caused him to control his slaves to do hard work without remorse or sympathy towards them which caused the social inequality. Document 4 is an inscription at Behistun, written by Persian king Darius in 500 B.C.E. Darius said that he was helped by the God because he did good and not evil. This might be a response to social inequality because he stated that he didn’t do anything wrong to the weak nor the powerful, but anyone that was against him, he would kill. It is evident that Darius was not for social inequality to the innocent but had to prove himself a powerful leader if confronted the situation.
The first two paragraphs will discuss why it was a good idea for him to have had the operation, however the last 2 paragraphs will discuss why it was not a good idea for Charlie to have had the operation. Firstly, one reason why it was a good idea for him to have had the operation would be because he got to see, feel and experience life itself. While he had a low IQ he never really understood
Darius I was an odd tyrant. All outwardly appearances suggested that he was truly concerned about his subjects and defending them from intruders. He made it a priority to ensure the prosperity of his empire; after all, happy subjects were obedient subjects. However, even with as much as he did to seem like a “fair and just king,” it was all done to appease his ego. Yes, he protected his people, only to expect payment from them in the form of taxes, gifts and tributes.
