Mr. Bob Ewell was the first person to be put on the stand and have his testimony. He was very hesitant when he first got on the stand when he wasn’t fully admitting to the questions when asked is Mayella Ewell your daughter. He stated that he saw Tom Robinson molesting Mayella and he got away as he ran in. He said that the room had looked like there had been a fight in that has messed the whole room up. One of the biggest parts of Mr. Bob Ewell’s testimony was that Atticus Finch the defendants lawyer asked Mr. Ewell to write his name on a piece of paper but he only did it to find out that Mr. Ewell was left
The family began to walk out the court when they anticipated a probation sentence but Judge Perry continued that a young man died, and that prison was appropriate. He then sentenced Mehserle to the low term of 2 years, with 146 days of in custody. (Wikipedia) What I have picked up through this research is that the technology of the Taser gun still has some bugs to work out. I would definitely suggest longer training in the use of the Taser gun. I believe the BART police department only required 6 hours of training prior to use of the gun.
4. It was not like huck should be happy, all pap did to Huck was beat him and take his money for booze. V. I think Huck made a good decision by changing names with Tom at the house they stayed at with Tom and Jim. Jim got put in a lock room because they knew he was a runaway. a. Huck was walking leaving town and saw Tom Sawyer, they talked and then went to a family home in the country and stayed there for a while.
Though Tom had seemed a little flustered and uncertain about answering when asked what had happened after he fell, Tom continues after a sharp order from Judge Taylor. The court room burst out into harsh discussions and commotion once Mr Robinson declared that Mayella had jumped on him and hugged him around the waist, the clamour was immediately silenced by Judge Taylor and the defendant’s questioning is pressed on. Admitting that he had ran immediately from the scene once Mr Ewell came, has brought many people to believing that Mr Robinson was guilty because running from the act, was confirmed
His reason- he felt that they were not giving him the rights he deserved by denying him access to the law library and the state Attorney Grievance Commission. Unlike Colin Ferguson, Stewart was able to prove his innocence and was acquitted of the murder charges. The Washington Post stated that the only thing left of this case was the prosecution thinking twice about the quality of their case, if someone who was a high school dropout was able to beat them. No one went back and asked if he was denied any rights, possibly because Stewart came out of the court room
So when they announced the verdict, I was so shocked that I was nearly knocked of the chair. How could it be so? How could they convict Tom when Atticus had shown everyone that he was absolutely innocent? That was so unfair. They couldn't convict Tom because of his color, which he couldn't do anything about and let that evil and dirty Ewells live
He instead, took their innocence. That includes Matt Sandusky, the youngest of six children Sandusky adopted, who now, at the age of thirty-three, has joined his accusers. Sandusky has pleaded not guilty, and the jury is deliberating now. The jurors were sequestered before Matt, through his lawyers, let it be known that he had told prosecutors he was ready to “testify truthfully as a commonwealth witness” against his adoptive father. The story of how Matt ended up in the Sandusky house sounds more like a soap opera or a tragedy, or, given how many warning signs seem to have been missed, a cautionary tale.
As I walked through Delaware Park Casino. Diversity jumps out at me. People from all different walk of life congregate for varies reasons. An interesting thing about Delaware Park is that it caters to people with different interests. Some socialize at the bar while others just stand around and watch others play the slots, poker, carps and a variety of casino activities.
By saying this it forces Mr Birling to speak to him and start the conversation. Mr Birling answers by trying to take charge of the situation he does this by at first asking the inspector to sit down and then he starts to try and avoid the subject of why the inspector is actually he says I was lord mayor two years ago and I’m still on the bench he says this almost as a warning and is trying to get the inspector to back off. This causes the other characters in the room to feel uneasy which creates a tense atmosphere, Gerald immediately starts to agree with everything his soon to be father in law says whereas Eric is much more blunt. The inspector puzzles the readers by letting Mr Birling rant on and then acting as though all of Mr Birling’s life achievements are worth nothing. At this point we still don’t know why he is here, but he creates the impression that everyone present is
When it came to the court, the courthouse was filled with people, and when Atticus actually proved that Tom was innocent, people were furious. Because Mayella had bruises on the right side of her face, arm, and neck, but what people didn´t know was that Tom couldn´t use his left hand , because it was shorter than the other and it hung dead by his side, and he therefore could only use his left hand, so he couldn´t have hit Mayella or raped her. It had probably been done by someone who had been left handed, most likely Bob Ewell, her father, Atticus then claimed that Mayella had lied about the rape because she broke the „code“ that says white women cant be attracted to black men, and Atticus proved this in front of the jury that Tom Robinson was innocent, but that wasn´t enough, the jury still found Tom Robinson guilty, just because he was black. After that, Tom Robinsons tried to escape, he tried to run away and climb over a fence, and got shot trying to run away and was killed, when Atticus found out, he personally went to miss Robinsons house and tells her that Tom has died, anybody else would have sent a messenger to do that, because a white man should not spend time in a black neighborhood.
