Hi, I am Jean Louise Finch, but please call me as Scout. I am right now at the trial sitting on the balcony with Jem, Dill, and Reverend Sykes. I can see the entire court. The court is huge and it is crowded with people. There are so many new faces. Out of those many faces, I can see my dad’s, sitting at the center of the court beside Tom Robinson. I don’t know what’s going on, why is Tom Robinson sitting on that chair as a criminal? Why is he accused for raping? By the way what does rape means? No one is telling me about what’s going on, except that Tom Robinson is innocent. I mean, why would people trust Bob Ewell’s accusations? What’s wrong with all the people, Bob Ewell, he is just a drunken crazy looking guy, I just don’t get it. I am old enough to know what’s happening as an innocent, good-hearted 5 years old! I… Okay, I might have to be quiet and pay attention to the trial because Jem is keep telling me to shut up. The trial has begun with the Judge Taylor’s voice, then the prosecutor, Mr. Gilmer, questions Heck Tate, of the incident that took place on the day November 21. The trial progressed very fast. After Heck Tate briefly explained the situation, my dad finally spoke. Atticus cross-examines the witness and later when Bob stood up on the court, Atticus also questions Bob Ewell. Atticus told Bob to write his name and the jury found out that he was left-handed. The court was filled with noisy sounds until Bob wrote his name, but when everybody figured out Bob was left-handed, the court got silent. I don’t get this, what about being left-handed and is the trial moving smoothly? Please dont plagiarize
