The disorder that I am most interested in is called “bipolar disorder” and it has always been a fascination of mine every since I saw the movie “Mommie Dearest” and seeing how her moods changed like night and day. It appears that bipolar disorder is experienced over a course of years and usually the person like Joan Crawford who was experiencing both mania and depression caused irritable mood swings, and she also had a extremely high self-esteem of herself. I also noticed that she really did not sleep much and was distracted quite easily. These areas are influenced by the body’s “circadian rhythm which is the everyday regulation of the body’s biochemical, behavioral and physiological process that includes the body temperature, heart activity, hormone levels, waking, sleeping and eating.” (Nauert, 2007) If the person does not get the proper diagnosis to be able to get treated properly it cause drastic health problems for that person. And one last note is if family or friends notice their loved one or friend is not acting the same especially if they are not doing normal activities that brought them joy and happiness it is best to get them checked out as soon as possible because the more that chemical imbalance going on the harder it will be to have it checked out and it needs to be detected by a professional in that field of study. There are several methods of study for bipolar disorder for example there is the MRI (Magnetic resonance Imaging), fMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and DTI (Diffusion tensor Imaging) The one method that I have chosen to discuss is the “MRI” which stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and this method involves “examining the structure of the brain tissue and it also measures the change in blood oxygen levels in the different brain areas.” (Nauret, 2007) Using this…show more content…
Also noted is that “serotonin can also be created in the wrong amount which can be absorbed by the wrong parts of the brain.” (2007) Final thought, for those who are living with a chemical imbalance it is very important to take the medications that the doctor has prescribed to them as a means of living better fuller
