Morrie is telling Mitch that “It's funny...I felt a little ashamed, because our culture tells us we should be ashamed if we can't wipe our own behind. But then I figured, Forget what the culture says.” (116) Morrie realizes that he needs help and he isn't ashamed of it. Throughout Morrie's life he has been himself. He never cared about what other people thought or what the culture said. He had a very happy life with that.
He realises that his family and the people who were part of his journey cared for him but he rejects their love and goes to live alone. However, at the end he realises his arrogance and that 'happiness is only real when shared'. Overall, the Director, Sean Penn portrays Chris as a very complex character as he has both positive and negative sides to him. His compassion for those he met and who helped him along his journey showed how he can care about people and this a very positive reaction. His arrogance towards his family has a negative reaction but he realises that he can't be alone in the world at the end.
I’ve been an “other.” I grew up in a small community where there was not much religious diversity. Not being active in the dominate faith of the town gave me a scarlet letter. What I found so funny about the situation was that nobody knew I was not a part of their faith until it was revealed to them. I shared the same values as those around me and so they were shocked to hear that I wasn’t “one of them.” Once my cover was blown I noticed a shift in how I was treated. I wasn’t a victim of negative treatment but instead became a project for them, a soul that must be saved.
I realize that my life is not significant but it is too the people close to me. I just see myself now as a son, brother, and a friend. I don’t really see myself as anything else because I just don’t really put myself out there to see if I would make an impact in the world. Right now all I see myself impacting is just people’s lives. I just do
He did this not because of the recognition he wanted, but because he stood up for what he believed was right. In the end, it got him nothing. He lost his job, even after his manager warned him about what he was doing, he got no recognition from the ladies, and will eventually have to face the disappointment from his family. It’s at the end where one can find the meaning of the story. Updike wrote this story to prove that doing what one believes is right won’t always end well for that person.
My husband stands behind me no matter what I do, but I still feel like I let him down. I often catch myself being bossy, ordering him around instead of letting him relax. My husband and I have a marriage of love and trust and I could never imagine myself with another person, but I also know I have to improve myself to have a better and stronger marriage. When I asked my husband how he would grade me he gave me an A. He told me that I always listen to what he has to say and encourage him in everything he does.

The title seems to have very little to do with the actual book but it is highly symbolic to the plot. Throughout the book many innocent people are hurt or destroyed by evil. Probably Atticus' most famous quote is 'Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird' pg 99. What Atticus meant by this statement was that mockingbirds aren't harmful at all, they only do one thing, sing their hearts out for people to enjoy and that is why it is a sin.
A lot of people don’t even try something because they have fear made –up in our mind that we may probably fail. His message is that people shouldn’t be afraid of trying and doing something. The second “Ifs” is that life is worthwhile if we learn. Learning is so important nowadays as we’ve seen. He mentioned PE and OPE which stand for “personal experience” and “other people experience”.
These people have the right to accept this and other people believe that they can change their perspective of life. There could be a reason someone believes that there life should be different and some just no longer want their life to go on like in Hamlets Soliloquy. Hamlet did not know whether his life was worth living because it was so difficult and he was either going to fight for what he loved or he could have just gave up and let his uncle win. These are always thoughts that go through even the happiest people’s thoughts. Even though someone might be happy or look happy doesn’t mean that they have never thought that life might not be worth living.
I didn’t care about anyone or anything; all I cared about was hanging out with my friends and having fun. I ran away because I thought my family was controlling, but in reality they were just protecting me. They just wanted for me to stay home and go to school but that was to “hard” for me to handle. I stayed with people I barely knew, that were in the same position I was. They didn’t care what happened to me or even themselves.
