Courtesy among members of the Armed Forces is vital to maintain military discipline and customs. Courteous behavior provides a basis for developing good human relations. The distinction between civilian and military courtesy is that military courtesy was developed in a military atmosphere and has become an integral part of serving in uniform. When a person acts with courtesy toward another, the courtesy is likely to be returned. We are courteous to our seniors because we are aware of their greater responsibilities and authority.
The 7 Army Values The 7 army values are the foundation for the US army solder , the 7 values are, Loyalty-Baring true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the U.S Army, my unit and my fellow soldiers. Bearing true faith and allegiance is a matter of believing in and devoting myself to something or someone. A loyal soldier is one who supports the leadership and stands up for his fellow soldiers. By wearing the uniform of the U.S. Army I am expressing my loyalty. And by doing my share, I show my loyalty to my unit.
Soldiers respect superiors that are COMPETENT LEADERS, LOYAL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM, CARING LEADERS, DEMANDING LEADERS, and COMPASIONATE LEADERS. Gaining a Soldiers respect is valued because that a Soldier that respects his/her leader will give their all for that said leader. A respected leader influences his/her Soldiers to accomplish the mission through what they do on a daily basis. A supervisor that has the Soldiers well being first and foremost needs not worry about the mission. The Soldiers will ensure that the mission is accomplished because they do not want to let the superior down.
Giving orders and the orders being followed means little mistakes, and any orders that are given are still surveyed to prevent mistakes or failure. Rules are put into place as to maintain order. Rewards and Punishments: When recruits are professional and their behaviour matches up to the standard required for them, rewards are put in place. These rewards may include meeting ‘important’ people, such as the Queen and other royals, and being knighted. Respect should be automatic towards colleagues if they are receiving it.
Following order falls under Duty, Respect and Integrity because it is a soldier’s duty to obey the orders of his/her non-commissioned and commissioned officers. It is part of respect because you are respecting your higher up when the give you an order and you follow it. It is part of Integrity because when you follow the orders given to you, you are doing what is right both legally and morally. Following orders is a big part of military function and history. Following orders allows the U.S Army to function proper order and bearing.
marine custom are simply desirable courses of action sanctioned by tradition and usage. in the marine corps, practically every custom has grown out of the manner in which marines of the past conducted themselves.many marine customs have been incorporated into regulations in order to standarize conduct through the corps, but some of them cannot be found in written directives. knowing and observing these customs, both written and unwritten,it is important to each marine because it keeps them mindful of the heritage and traditions of the corps, it makes marines feel that they are a part of the team and helps to create the strong bond of loyalty. they are intended to reinforce discipline and the chain of command, showing how marines will treat their superiors. they also

By leaving physical training early I failed to support my leadership.
The only thing someone should say the next time they look into a soldier's eyes is thank you. Thank you for being brave and risking your life so others don't have too. There definitely is pride in serving in the military. There's a sense of accomplishment, leadership, maturity, and pride in serving in our military. What better accomplishment then knowing that you defended your country?
It is my belief that every human being and nation every were, no matter what their power or their strength capabilities, has the right to be respected by every one to a certain degree the degree that they deserve. It means being treated with consideration and esteem and to be willing to treat people similarly the exact same way in order to receive respect you have to be willing to also be able to give respect from time to time when expected for instance if I saw a gunnery sergeant smoking a cigarette during colors and not giving the salute and proper respect all his marines would probably show him the same level of respect as he does to the things that deserves his respect such as colors. It means to have a high regard for other peoples’ feelings, listening to people and hearing them, and giving them your full attention and time to do whatever it is they need you to complete. Even more importantly, respect means treating one with their earned amount of dignity. Respect is the opposite of humiliation and contempt.
Respect to NCO’s Displaying the proper courtesy and respect to Non-Commissioned Officers and Officers alike is a key component to being a Soldier in the United States Army. Throughout history, within every single military force, there has always been rank structure and discipline. Rank structure was, and still is, instilled in the military for many reasons; to ensure tasks are completed, orders from officers are followed, and communication within the ranks is evident and clear. To show disrespect and to act discourteous towards senior ranking personnel goes against tradition, regulation, and honor. Traditionally, respecting seniors was critical throughout military forces though history.
