“Until my ghastly tale is told, this heart within me burns.”; a quote from Samuel Taylor Coleridge in the famous, longest major poem called The Rime of the Ancient Mariner which tells a story about Albatross. Midway Island, also known as Pihemanu, is an island in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean and located more than 2000 miles from the nearest continent where Albatross live and breed. Midway Atoll was used to be “Albatross’ paradise”, but now, it is a graveyard for them. Do you know why they die so easily? We can find numerous bottle caps, wires, metal or non-biodegradable plastics or materials, lighters or even a toothbrush inside their stomach – undigested; especially inside the Albatross’ babies. They suffer a tragic death in their young age. Have you ever wondered where do the trashes come from? How can that garbage reach Midway Island which is really isolated from the other continents and islands? To be frank, those rubbishes are actually come from us – our daily garbage or even factory waste. Do we have the courage to face the reality of our time? A linear economy system means that it is an open system which would continue its process in a forward direction without turning back. A finite planet is a planet that can’t neither expand nor contract; it stays in the same shape. When we operate a linear economy system into a finite planet, we would eventually use all the natural resources provided in the earth and we would trash them when we don’t need them or we can’t use them
