Organizing Paper Jennifer Howell October 24, 2010 MGT/330 Richard Rignall Organizing Paper In this paper the evaluating function of management for “Disneyland” in the areas of human resources and knowledge will be discussed. The effectiveness and efficiency in the management function in the areas of human resources and technology are excellent. Examples have been listed in the paper to support these beliefs. Human Resources Human resources deal with many different specialized sections within Disneyland to keep the company running successfully. Disneyland has many specialized areas within human resources because it is a large company that has to deal with many different aspects to run the company. These areas are so different from one another with completely different information. People need to have the knowledge and skills to do whatever job they have. All of these areas would be too hard for only one department to handle. One of Disneyland’s biggest areas within the human resources department is Disney University. Disney University deals with new hire orientation. Every person who comes through the door and becomes hired to work at Disneyland has to complete the new hire orientation. The orientation usually lasts about two to three days so that the new cast member can really understand Disney’s beliefs and how they should perform and act towards the guests. This is probably one of the most important areas within human resources because Disney wants to make sure that every person who is hired as a cast member reflects the Disney image and attitude that go along with the company. Disneyland takes employee knowledge very seriously. Classes are given that deal with the safety issues that employees need to know about to keep the guests safe. When there are lost children, cast members have series of steps that they need to go through to deliver the child safely back to his or her parents. Crowd control is also important during the parades because there are so many people. Sometimes it can be very unsafe when there is confusion going on when people are trying to cross the street during the parade. Big vehicles are present in the parade along with fire and lights so that can be a serious hazard if Disneyland allows guests to cross the street during parade time. Crowd control sets up walkways and cut off points with ropes to control the crowd in the direction that they are walking. Recently the “World of Color” was added to California Adventure Park. Many people have come from all over to see this new presentation. According to (Los Angeles Times/Travel) “In anticipation of overwhelming crowds, Disney plans to allot the 4,000 to 6,000 premiere viewing spots for each show to fans who snap up FastPass tickets or purchase a prepaid meal. The remaining masses will be left to find a spot on the backside
