Metacognitive Skills in Art Interpretation The interpretation of art relating to Macbeth was a cognitively challenging assignment that required deep thought and analytical skills. However, I understood the assignment and was able to complete the project knowing I had understood it. One thing I had a hard time doing for this project was deciding which pieces of art I should analyze. Besides the plethora of options for paintings based off of Macbeth, there were so many other pieces of art that I could see relating to Macbeth it was hard to choose. I was able to look back on feedback received from my practice art interpretation and used this feedback to better form deep interpretations of various pieces of art, while also including necessary information like the author’s background and when the painting was painted. I also made sure I included things I learned in the art class I took freshman year, such as analyzing the authors birthplace and it affect on art, in order to create aforementioned interpretations. The benefit to me of completing this project is that I was able to better hone my critical thinking skills. While my critical thinking skills have always been adequate, they never where used in more than one type of scenario. But having to use critical thinking in a new field (art interpretation), I was more equipped to analyze my critical thinking abilities by seeing them in action in other fields. Overall, this project ended up helping me a lot because it showed me I could apply critical thinking to multiple fields, and that I can find analogies between things that are not directly related. I thoroughly enjoyed the project and appreciate the metacognitive skills it has helped me
