Then George warned Lennie to keep away from her; “Listen to me you crazy bastard, don’t you even look at that bitch. I don’t care what she says and what she does, I seen ‘em poison before but never seen no piece of jail bait worse than her.” Curley’s wife causes tension on the ranch because she annoys and embarrasses Curley by wandering around the ranch flirting. This makes Curley angry and feel humiliated because his wife is always seeking the attention of other men. Curley got angry with the other worker because his wife is often disappearing and he felt as if the other man laughed at him because he could not keep control of his wife. “If you can’t keep control of your god-damn wife what do you want me to do about it?” Curley’s wife’s behaviour on the ranch angered Curley so much that he often vented his anger on the other men because Lennie was laughing to himself.
The death penalty gives those that are actually guilty the easy way out of punishment, and the innocent a wrongful death. Giving the guilty the death penalty keeps them from ever coming to terms with what they have done wrong. They don’t get the chance to truly feel apologetic or right the wrong they have done. The death penalty allows the guilty to escape their own thoughts and guilt. “But the others were perfectly rational.
Tsar Nicholas II who resembles Mr. Jones in Animal Farm; was soon removed from power by riots and violence; just as Mr. Jones was chased off the farm by the animals by a series of violence and riots, both because of neglect. Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky represent Napoleon and Snowball from “Animal Farm”, they both became leaders of the Russian revolution after Karl Marx (Old Major) died just like Napoleon and Snowball became leaders of “Animal Farm” after Old Major passed away. Joseph represent Napoleon very well because they were both not very good speakers and didn’t want to follow anyone else’s ideas they wanted to have all the power and do thing their way, they both loved power so much they would kill anyone who would disagree to them. They also both used different types military forces to control Joseph used KGB just as Napoleon used Moses, Squealer, and dogs.
Current Events Editorial 38 states in the U.S. have the death penalty. I am for the death penalty. I believe it should be used if an intentional murder was committed, and the suspect was identified by an eyewitness and DNA tests. Also, the suspect had to be normal, as in no mental retardation, or not being drunk or high on drugs. There are a lot of arguments on why the death penalty should and shouldn’t be used.
Deterrence is an act or process of discouraging and preventing an action from occurring. When potential killers know that the cost of their murderous action can result in their own death, they are much more hesitant and more likely to reconsider their plans. Murderers are selfish and sick-minded people who have no consideration of others. Isaac Ehrlich puts it perfectly, “ if one execution of a guilty capital murderer deters the murder of one innocent life, the execution is justified.” Therefore, capital punishment should be strictly enforced and legalized.Capital punishment also provides protection to the society. Philosopher Jackues Barzun compares such criminals to wolves.
Conrado Valido Frederick Knowles English Composition: Response Paper 11 February 2011 The Death Penalty According to David Bruck, “neither justice nor self-preservation demands that we kill men” and I beg to differ. Death penalty is considered as a controversial topic today. Death penalty is the best way to bring justice because it is cheap, it serves as justice for the victims, and it gives a higher regard to the victim’s suffering in the hands of the murderer. Although some people oppose death penalty saying it is immoral and a waste of life, it is still the best way to bring justice to the victims of heinous crimes. Death penalty is the best way to bring justice because it is cheap.
Supporters of the death penalty argue that it is the only just punishment for a murderer. I believe that the death penalty should be ended because one’s life is not more precious than another, the process is inhumane, and it is expensive. One of the reasons the death penalty should be stopped is because it puts the value of one’s life over another. Others may claim that the death penalty is a way to punish murderers. Although murder is a horrific crime to commit, is death really the only just punishment?
However, a serial killer, who kills people for fun or for his personal gain, definitely deserves the death penalty. The punishment meted out should fit the severity of the crime. The death penalty should continue in order to “eliminate” those who do not contribute positively towards society. Firstly, the death penalty serves as an effective deterrent and helps in reducing crime, knowing that they could lose their lives. Secondly, it is true that death penalty is irreversible, but it is hard to kill a wrongly convicted person due to the several chances given to the convicted to prove his innocence with the appellate systems in place with the existing justice system, otherwise why does every country in the world have one?
However, the death penalty is a cruel and unusual punishment, expensive, and not deterrent to crime. One reason why death penalty should be abolished is because it serves cruel and unusual punishment, not justice. Many inmates would rather be dead than spending the rest of their life in prison. Some inmates even say it themselves that there thankful they just have to be there a couple of years and there out they just take it day by day. Some do change their old ways once they’ve done time but most eventually relapse into their old ways.
Capital punishment is not an excessive, unnecessary punishment, for those who knowingly and intentionally commit murder. When persons take the lives of innocent people it is only fitting that they are punished in the same fashion. Can you visualize a young child or other innocent people not been given a chance to tell someone they love them or ask for forgiveness before they are brutally murdered? What then is a more fitting punishment for such an act of violence; “life imprisonment wherein the murderer is eligible for parole and can commit more crimes against innocent people or the death penalty where that criminal will not be able to take more lives?” Think about it. The fear of the death penalty will send a message to stop people from being violent and killing each other; people are afraid of death more than any other moral punishment, so enforcing the death penalty for criminals will certainly see a reduction in crimes as imminent death is what people fear the most.
