Differences for the cities are the way they have succeeded economically. Some are rich in agriculture while others have established trading routes to attain food to sustain their populations. Another key difference between all the cities is their tolerance for religion, some countries are open to other faiths while some are closed and use violence to inflict their religion. 3) Inferences that future historians would make on these cities is that they are all highly populated, they are all port cities open for trade, they are all multicultural and they all are flourishing economically. Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are thriving economically because they are all port cities which enable them to trade.
In the Middle Ages, the church had the most power and a huge influence (control) on society. During the Renaissance, religion started to affect people less. Things such as the idea of humanism would spread throughout, where the human body was seen as equal to or greater than gods (document 2). Humanism focused on individual achievements which were what the church had opposed of (document 6). Secular writing was used as a sort of guiding.
Some women “felt they were needed at home to raise families, crops for food and to fill the jobs that the men had vacated in order to serve their country.”(Suite101) Women’s lives on the home front during World War II were a significant part of the war effort for all participants and had a major impact on the outcome of the war. Once the men went off to war and left their jobs, the women that were single had a great advantage because job opportunities were everywhere. In the other hand married women had a tough time, especially if they had children. Hundreds of women worked in machine shops, welding shops, manufacturing plants, and also worked in war industries to make equipment for the war. New industries, naval, and army bases were being built during the home front.
Counter for the Case Against Chores Abstract Jane Smiley attempts to give parents advice about household chores in her essay The Case Against Chores, which was featured in an issue of Harper’s magazine in 1995. I think that Jane had a somewhat privileged childhood; if it weren’t for finding the way to hard work through working with horses, she would most likely not have a clue of how to operate in the adult world. I grew up in a house with a chore list, and it helped me on my path to be a functioning adult and mother. Agreed that most children would celebrate Jane Smiley’s case against chores, but is it any good? In her essay, The Case against Chores, Jane Smiley shows her contempt for chores by giving some opinions that I simply do not agree with.
although for the most of its residents, the biggest advantage is convenience of living, working, shopping in the same area. An example is living in the city, where your home is closer to the workplace, a shopping center on the way makes saving time and fuel easy. The advantage for the business-minded, looking to expand business, can find a real estate agent to locate property, a banker to finance it, contractor to build, even a great restaurant to wine and dine potential clients all in the same block downtown. For many parents that have busy professional careers outside the home, the advantage of being closer to work affords them more time to spend with the family, and less time on the road. Children are also closer to schools, parks, friends and soccer practice.
Reasons for this was to make the farmers more efficient, some used their loans for new machinery, vehicles, or to even repay old debts they had. Farm tennants that borrowered loans were closely advised by goverment agencies. Family was important as well and was put on the agenda. FSA even set up a health insurance program, as well as the farmers wives were taught to cook and raise children. Many farmers were upwarded of 1/3 of the amount of their loan and did not have to repay it as well as they moved on to the cities to gain better
The father would go out to be the “breadwinner” whilst the mother would stay at home to support the family emotionally and domestically such as cooking food and the safeguarding of children. This is explained by the warm bath theory with the mother being the “bath” or “backbone” of the family whilst she provides the father and children with the support. Famous sociologist George Peter Murdock has his own view of the family within functionalism. His definition of the family was a group of people characterised by common residence, economic cooperation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes at least two of whom maintain a socially approved sexual relationship and one or more children, own or adopted, of the socially cohabiting adults.

In medieval times, the extravagent architecture of cathedrals was meant to show the wealth, power, and influence of the church. A great deal of time and money was spent on cathedrals in the Middle Ages. In fact, almost no expense was spared.
