Correctly convert singular terms into plural form. 7. Identify the correct meaning for standard medical abbreviations. 8. Analyze medical documentation for its meaning. 9. Apply learned medical terminology to real-world situations that relate to the medical field. 10. In accordance with the college’s QEP, the student will enhance their information literacy skills that are the skills needed to responsibly and effectively locate, evaluate and use information. 11. General Education Requirements will be completed as illustrated on the last page of the syllabus. Course Policies 1. Attendance is mandatory. Roll will be taken each class period. If you sign the role and then leave before class is over, that is considered as being absent for the day. It is your responsibility to make sure you sign the roll (which will be passed around) each class period. If you are late, please ask for the roster at the end of the class period. 2. There will be 9 chapter tests during the semester, each worth 150 points. The lowest test score of the nine tests will be dropped. No student is allowed to leave class during the test session. 2. Five-hundred, forty points are reserved for in-class assignments: quizzes, chart-note reviews, worksheets, literature reviews, writing assignments, etc. These assignments are completed during class time. 20-40 points per class period. 3. Four-hundred thirty points are reserved for MTI assignments. Specific assignments will be required for each chapter. Students must, at minimum, complete the required assignments to earn any credit. Each activity is worth a total of 10 points. (If you score an 83 on your activity - - that translates into 8.3 points out of 10 points.) There will be four required activities for each chapter. 4. A “pathology report” worth 75 points will be completed. More info to follow. 5. A Final Exam worth 250 points will be given at the end of the semester. This will be a cumulative exam.
