A lot of Americans believe with me on this point. Our liberty or our freedom to choose, the medicinal fight, and the cost of prohibiting marijuana is a losing cause for the United States government. If the rest of the states would follow suit with the states that have legalized medicinal marijuana the federal government would have to listen. The only hurdle that we have to get over is the federal government not listening to the populace. If every citizen that wants marijuana legalized would write their congressman and senator to have them push to change the prohibition laws on marijuana.
It will give me ideas of what can be used as a con regarding medical marijuana. In this article, the author speaks about California, Arizona, and several other states have recently legalized medical marijuana. He also states clearly what his goal is. That goal is to demonstrate that even if one grants the opponents of legalization many of their contentious assumptions, the federal government is still obligated to take several specific steps toward the legalization of medical marijuana. He defends this claim against a variety of objections, including the claims: that marijuana is unsafe, that marijuana cannot be adequately tested or produced as a drug, that the availability of synthetic THC makes marijuana superfluous, and especially that legalizing medical marijuana will increase recreational use by 'sending the wrong message.'
Our founding fathers grew marijuana in their fields, wrote books on how to grow it, and utilized it to its full potential to help build America. When criminalization started it was aimed at the personal, financial gain of a handful of greedy men. As those greedy men started over exaggerating facts and twisting truths, racism came to be another twisted rumor that fueled the fires of advocates of criminalization of marijuana. From 1937 to 2005 Americans have stood by and let the federal government deny them their right to use and utilize marijuana to its full potential. When California voted to legalize medicinal marijuana in 2005 it started a snowball effect that has carried over into thirteen states.
Its medical use must be approved before scientists can gain research to make a decision. “The science on medical marijuana remains unacceptably thin, largely because a drug-war mind-set has kept the U.S. government from commissioning research that could give insight into its efficacy” (“To Clear”). Even California rejected the proposition of recreational marijuana because of the uncertainty behind it. In addition, once medical marijuana gains approval, the cause for recreational legalization lacks victims for which people have sympathy. Society feels compassion towards those with illnesses that need the drug, but they will not feel remorseful towards people seeking a high.
The possiblility of understanding more of this herb and its contribution is limited. Unless marijuana studies are scientifically acceptable through clinical trials along with statistical analysis, there won’t be any answeres to its therapeutic effects. Legalizing marijuana will contribute to adequate study and research and will benefit individuals who will be able to lean on medicinal marijuana legally and without concern; giving them peace of mind as well as relief. In some cases, people with ailments or diseases that are desperate, willingly break the law regardless of consequence because of their grave need to relieve their pain. For instance, in the case of Raich, “a mother of two teenagers who says she has been suffering from a litany of disabling
He had thoughts of his life in Burnda and how he had been on the run and silent for 6 months. The Father of a dear friend of his gave him some money to flee the country. Deo met a gentleman named Muhammed at an airport on his way from Cairo to New York. Muhammed helped him get started selling coffee beans in New York.
I agree with most conservative ideas on abortion, the economy, education, and healthcare. However, I disapprove of their Homeland Security policies where profiling, majority Muslims, is necessary. On the topic about profiling, I find it suspicious that the Tea Party movement was not a thing before the 2008 elections. Ever since President Obama went to office, the Tea Party suddenly becomes a great big voice against the Obama administration and most
If something that has been considered an evil for so long can be turned into something good, I don't see any reason why it should not be done. Work Cited: King, Tom. "New Law Would Legalize Marijuana in Oregon." Salem-News 9 July 2008. 6Aug.2005
The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 was the first type of regulation on marijuana. This act would require “registration and reporting requirements and a tax on the growers, sellers, and buyers of marijuana” (Pros and Cons of Controversial Issues, 2013). Once there was a negative spotlight on marijuana, the major of New York, at this time, wanted to do a study about the drug. In the 1944 report called “The Marihuana Problem in the City of New York”, drew the conclusion that most of the dangers being communicated to the public were false and over exaggerated (Pros and Cons of Controversial Issues, 2013). Although known as the “gateway drug”, the report stated that marijuana use did not lead to the possible addiction of other hardcore drugs such as heroin or cocaine.
Most of those who oppose the legalization of marijuana either have something to lose if it is legalized such as the pharmaceutical drugs companies would loss billions of dollars because they would lose sales on prescription medications. There are a lot more businesses that stand to lose if marijuana is legalized, but what people should realize is that legalizing marijuana will not create harm it will do more good than alcohol or tobacco. With the legalization of marijuana every individual will have the opportunity to get the healing their body needs. Smoking marijuana does not derail your life; the medicine brings you back to life. In order to really understand the benefits of smoking marijuana you will have to become one of those people who have suffered with an illness that prescription medication does not help to alleviate the pain or symptoms that comes from the illness.
