Organizational Overview McKinley Park is one of seven community centers located in Oklahoma and Canadian Counties. Combining all the community centers staff totals to over 360 individuals and thousands of volunteers. They are open year round: Monday- Friday, 11 am thru 6 pm. These centers help people with social services such as food, housing, clothing, prescription assistance, GED classes, drug & alcohol abuse counseling, and free electronic filing of Federal & State Income Tax. Additionally, McKinley Park offers youth basketball, football, and baseball among other sports. They also offer movie nights, tutoring such as Power Hour Homework, arts & crafts and a head start program. The services offered for the youth such as sports, tutoring, movie night, and head start program, is overseen by the gymnasium department which currently has only two employees, Cory Colbert and Chris Leonard; their titles are…show more content…
Once all of the volunteers submitted the completed questionnaire, we calculated percentages based on their responses. The feedback from the questionnaire showed the following: * Willing to share knowledge and experiences with others- 100% * Enjoy encouraging and motivating others- 100% * Comfortable asking/answering challenging questions- 80% * Not comfortable asking/answering challenging questions- 20% * Want to contribute to other people’s growth and success- 100% * Willingness to invest time in mentoring-100% * Comfortable working as a team- 100% The feedback from the open ended questions showed the following: * Interested in becoming a mentor to improve themselves by gaining skills to assist with career goals * Mentoring enables the opportunity to give back to the community by helping youth * 80% are comfortable answering/asking any topic that may come
