McDonald’s is one of the world’s largest fast food restaurant chains. The time and money that goes into making sure the company stay above the competition is priceless. McDonald’s has always stated that making sure that their employees and customers’ happiness one of their main objectives. The corporation makes sure their organization is run efficiently by hiring and training the best employees for their store. Just imagine trying to work or even manage such a company; it takes a lot of communication and leadership skills to do so. The thought of just being in a chaotic environment sounds intimidating doesn’t it? This is what the students at Hamburger University endured on the video. The students that attended Hamburger University were employees of McDonald’s, and attended the school to better some of their skills. The objective of the school was for them to graduate in a 5 day course with the skills they learned and apply them to the managing or owning of their own store. The professors would provide the students with management training by putting them in real life scenarios by doing simulations. The first simulation you saw them in a very chaotic setting. The purpose of that simulation was to test them in that situation and see how they would perform. For starters, you would see the first-line manager trying to do everything instead of providing the guidance and facilitating the overall work of her employees. She would run back and forth from one section of the store to the other trying to control everything. Second, majority of the employees were lost at the station they were organized to do, and because of that they became irritated. The first-line manager didn’t lead her staff correctly because she provided hardly any communication. Third, because of all of this going on in the background the most important people, the customers, were becoming irritated.
