How big an impact can the sex of a leader have on his/her decisions, the way the subordinates are treated, the direction that the organization takes, and other such identical traits of an organization? It’s safe to say that the impact is there and there is no doubting that no matter how advanced the country is or big a democracy is. The question rather is how and in what ways gender play a major role. Main characteristics of male and female leaders are studies in this paper and are related to the organizational outcomes. Please know that most of is being said in this paper are generalizations and not all of what is said are applicable in the individual cases. No matter how hard we try to put a “civic” culture into practice and institutionalize our organizations, there are still some aspects of physicality and sense of physical insecurity prevailing. Subordinates and employees usually tend to take order from a male leader faster than they would from a female leader. Males with their voice, high resort to temper, and in some cases appeal to violence are feared in an organizational structure and therefore well listen to and act upon their calls. This is evident in more under-developed and perhaps developing countries. They are softer with their decisions and perhaps, as some would argue, usually end with more cold and calculated decisions. This is mostly due to the nature of women and their tendency not to resort to the use of force as a means to get things done. This can be a good thing. A patient leader is always better than an impatient one. Since leaders are not really part of the day to day operations of an organization, at least not in the sense to look after operations and programs, but rather oversea the whole the program which is why they are the favored authorities to make plans. Plans soon to be implemented by the bulk of the civil servants (in case of public service) or administrators and officers in case of the other organizations. Cold and calculated decisions usually lead to better plans and indeed, better plans lead to better programs. Female leaders, and again this is a generalization, can be more reasonable and patient in cases. This is because of their calm nature and tendency to listen to the complaining entities and if a case is brought to her, the sides will be listened to. Being a mother probably has a lot to do with this. Raising children and being a mother is not an easy task and if anyone doubts it, he should better talk a mother. This however can considerably impact the patience level of women and their call for reasonableness are greatly affected by this whole
