Some studies suggest that e-mail has the potential to improve the quality of health care, encourage patient- physician communication, and enhance professional relationships among physicians (Stephens & Parrillo, 2011). When physicians can easily communicate with other physicians, it serves to better help patients because ideas can be shared and problems can find solutions. Patient confidentiality has always been a concern because the use of the Internet allows for patient information to potentially be leaked. The main concern is the issue of privacy of a patient’s medical records. Privacy and security concerns increase reluctance, among physicians and patients alike, to communicate via email (Stephens
Generation X is more comfortable using PDA’s, cell phones, email, laptops, Blackberry’s etc... Gen X is a very flexible generation. Computers Are Taking Over Does technology help us control our world, yes in fact I think it does. There are so many different items that is listed as technology but what I want to center my opinion is on electronics. electronics are a big part in our everyday lives, and most people would not be able to perform their daily tasks or complete their job requirements without the assistance of a computer. How would the we survive if suddenly had no electricity and no computers. I am one who does think that I really do dependence on computers and know that I’m not the only one that knows that others are or do depend on computers also and know that people needing computers are growing.
Ruth Guzman Comparison and Contrast Laptop vs. Desktop Computer These days computers have become very popular and important in every day life. There are more and more people who have their own computers. Nevertheless some people easily get confused when deciding to buy a computer, how does one know which is better, a laptop or a desktop computer? There are some similarities as well as some very big differences between the two type of computer that you might want to consider when choosing one.
The availability of earning a degree from home, via a computer, is the most convenient resource of today. Computers allow many individuals to work from home who have time constrains with work, and family situations. I personally use my computer daily; I use it for college courses, personal business, and pleasurable pursuits. Without a computer I would not be able to complete my education, or conduct personal business, (because many banks and retail company’s require the use of computers for business interactions, today) and I unable to physically walk around in a college campus, because of health issues. There are several technological terms still foreign to me, such as Microprocessor (motherboard), Ram (electronically read and written), and Rom (Read-0nly), megabytes (millions of memory bytes), gigabytes (billions of memory bytes).
These are both huge advantages in a fast paced industry however; electronic medical record keeping seems to have more advantages to the industry. Using the electronic method, companies are able to have multiple users of the system, the software used is able to prevent errors from being made, the records and data are more easily accessed, and the software is available quickly in any situation, which comes in handy in emergency situations, it takes up less storage, documentation is legible, and the company is able to keep track of medication use (Administrative Medical Assisting). Although both ways of keeping records has been proven to work in the healthcare industry, electronic methods have proven to be more successful. With advantages comes disadvantages and both manual record keeping and electronic record keeping have disadvantages as well. Some disadvantages of manual record keeping include; only being able to be used by one person at a time, easier to misplace, more storage space is required for paperwork and errors or more likely to occur to do misprints and bad writing (Administrative Medical Assisting).
Electronic Health Records have altered the workflow of a clinician’s office, turning into the new “desktop” for health care contributors and administrators equally. Electronic Health Records can reinforce patient care, and can also provide a mixture of irritation and productivity to office administration. These methods have influenced the custom of medicine today and are about to enlarge that influence by way of utilizing new methods of patient care through EHR patient portals. The EHR patient portal, routing communication among health care provider’s and their patient’s, is rising quickly. The performance of a portal concentrate on administrative data exchange like appointment request or reminders provides an increase in office productivity and staff workflow.
Consumers are more interesting in the way technology has advanced with in the health care era. Patients are aware that all medical information is safely kept in a computer, but are concern of possible typos or errors that happens with the use of computers. On the flip side consumers understand that retrieving the health information can be done faster for test results and other important information that may usually take weeks to retrieve. Consumers now know it is easier for them to request refills on medication, and sent to the pharmacy quicker. Consumers realize medical providers are gaining a better way to manage the medical information, which will help improve the health care industry, and provide positive medical care.
These methods which were once opposed, has now been welcomed into our business out of convenience and “time vs. money”. The way in which professionals understand and experience the concept of texting devices and technology the most, is that it’s just to make our lives much more efficient, but when you look around, what do you see? People walking around with cell phones and carrying around laptop cases in our offices, sometimes others just are listening to music. But then the companies that build these types of technology want to make them better and more efficient. So they keep releasing new devices that are smaller and faster and mostly more costly.
We live in a world of billions of people, all of which may need healthcare assistance at some point in their lives. It is not an unknown fact that the healthcare industry is overloaded. The ratio of patients to nurse or patients to doctor is always very high; the work load can be overwhelming. Many see the addition of robotics in the healthcare industry as a positive, as there are numerous benefits that come with the extra help that they bring. There are so many ways robotics can help in the healthcare industry including, assisting surgeons in surgery with laparoscopic technology and helping doctors and nurses find veins with near infrared technology.
