He also looked into Leeuwenhoek discovery of bacteria and approved it. The last important thing he did was be the first person to observe fossils with a microscope. Antony van Leeuwenhoek was a very skilled microscope inventor. Even though compound microscopes were in his time, they could only magnify 20 to 30 times, but because of his lens grinding skills, good eye site, and precise lighting where he worked, he was able to create microscopes that magnified over 200 times. One of the most significant discoveries that Leeuwenhoek made was bacteria.
Victor Frankenstein was born into a loving and caring family, with his mother and father and orphan adopted sister, Elizabeth. Victor was always a quick learner and studied sciences, chemistry and had a fascination with electricity. He left home to continue his studies in science at the University of Ingolstadt (Shelley, page 50). During his time at the university, he impresses his professors and fellow class mates with his own philosophies. As his term was ending at Ingolstadt, Victor wanted to practice his philosophy of recreating human life.
Whether he was using collage techniques, fusing, clippings from a magazine or a stroke of a brush he created powerful art that will be in minds forever. His visual recollections of the south drawn from real-life memories and stories are anything but usual. His painting “The Family” (1941) demonstrates Bearden’s love for the Cubist style and through this he addresses family’s complex relationships and rituals that were able to tie into my own real-life experiences. Romare Bearden demonstrates that you can take something simple and turn it into something beautiful and meaningful, and that is something he will always be remembered for. The painting, “The Family” can be easily be defined as a
Leonardo experimented with oils in his paintings along with versatile colors to build up depth and layers. Leonard is later referred to the Duke of Milan by Lorenzo de' Medici were he paints the most famous fresco in history "The Last Supper" and later going on to another famous piece "Mona Lisa". After the passing of Leonardo it was discovered that he had many ideas of machines, tanks and helicopters that could be based on todays ingenuity. Leonardo was even curious about plant and animal life, studying anatomy with corpses that also involved in dissection and research. Leonardo displayed very advanced ideas that are common
These scenes were all painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. The smaller scenes are the logical consequences of the larger scenes. It is remarkable how much Michelangelo’s talent shines through but even more remarkable is that the Pope gave him freedom to depict the Genesis stories with free reign of his imagination paired with his knowledge of the Bible and of contemporary culture. Over the four year period he worked mostly in solitude, he was only thirty three years old. In each of the scenes depicted there are very impressive facial expressions.
As for his painting career, there is only a few paintings he is fully credited for or recognized as his work. In his paintings, he has had help and collaborated with his pupils that passed as apprentices in his workshop. A couple of the most famous of his pupils include Leonardo Da Vinci and Lorenzo di Credi. Whenever Verrocchio didn’t finish something, he would leave it to someone else to put some finishing touches. He left amazing art behind soon died of an unknown cause in 1488.
And then, I will further my research by examining how the masterpiece has been reproduced under different contexts. Fig 1. Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa (1503) The meanings are produced through a complex social relationship that involves at least two elements besides the image itself and its producer: (1) how viewers interpret or experience the image and (2) the context in which an image is seen. (Sturken & Cartwright, 2001, p45) According to Diane Shipley DeCillis, the owner of Southfield gallery, Mona Lisa is the most famous painting in the history of art and continues to inspire reproduction, parody, scientific theory, and more. Thus, I think Mona Lisa is the most suitable artwork for me to mediate different meanings produced since the Renaissance until the postmodern world.
The Renaissance is famous for discoveries in science, geography and art. There were also breakthroughs in medicine but, by 1700, people were no healthier than in the Middle Ages. However it was still a very important period in medical history as it led to new and exciting discoveries about the human body that would help in the future. Some famous people from the Renaissance were; Leonardo da Vinci (taught young artists how to draw and drew very detailed sketches of the human body, however, he never published his work), Johannes Gutenburg (invented the printing press in the 1450’s), Andreas Vesalius (made new discoveries about the anatomy of the human body), William Harvey (discovered that blood circulates around the body) and Ambroise Pare (pioneered new surgical methods for treating gunshot wounds and stopping bleeding). The Renaissance is an important period because of discoveries about anatomy thanks to Andreas Vesalius.
Their unique line has made them one of the most powerful and well known worldwide famous fashion designers to emerge from Italy. On August 13, 1958 Domenico Dolce was born in Sicily, Italy. At the age of six he worked in his fathers shop who was a sicilian tailor. Dolce mentioned that he was obligated to work there but he enjoyed sewing and drawing, he soon started to make miniature clothes as samples. Dolce studied science at a university but dropped out to attend art school.
One of the types of art during this time was painting and sculpting. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci were two of the most famous painter/sculptors of the Italian Renaissance. Michelangelo was born in 1475 and accomplished many of the famous works of all time before his death in 1564. Some of his works are the painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and he also did many nude sculptures. Another famous painter of this time was Leonardo da Vinci.
