Leadership Style An effective leader generates connections between associates of the organization for the purpose of increasing performance and accomplishing exceptional results (Sullivan & Decker, 2009). An effective leader will encourage members of the organization to collaborate by delivering motivation and direction to attain organizational goals. “One thing that all leaders have in common is one or more followers. If no one is following, one cannot be leading” (Vroom & Jago, 2007, p. 1). A leader can achieve organizational goals by interpersonal skills to persuade, influence, and guide others.

The management team needs to understand that “change is an ongoing and never-ending process of organizational life” (Van de Ven & Sun, 2011, p. 58). After showing the team where they are the next step would be to show them where they can go if they make the necessary changes. During the future state presentation, an outline of how business would increase and improve statistically. Companies often require visual and the future state presentation would provide several visual chart reports showing the company how they will improve their marketability by implementing project management functionality. The increase to employee morale and production would be the closer to this presentation.
First, I’m going to analyze and interpret Wooden’s style of leadership and discuss which styles I believe that he has possessed throughout his life. In my opinion, Wooden has practiced multiple styles of leadership, among them being: visionary, coaching, affiliative, and democratic, all of which are considered to be resonant styles of leadership. Resonant leadership occurs when leaders drive positive emotions from their followers (Primal Leadership). A visionary leader moves people toward shared dreams and our text describes it being appropriate to use when changes require a new vision, or when a clear direction is needed. He is a visionary leader because he took a UCLA team that had a losing record and transformed them into conference champions in his first year as head coach.
Peter Drucker was simply a man way ahead of his time. His application to the business and political landscape is timeless and still practiced today. Drucker focused on the human capitol within an organization. At the time a lot of business minds were applying their skills to the transaction of sales. Drucker simply used his talents to consult and advise companies on creating positive business practices and an efficient hierarchy.
Leaders set the overall vision for the organization and establish its goals and processes. “[A leader’s] ability to bring forth—maximize—the potential and abilities of those under [his] leadership marks [him] as a great competitor and leader.” (Wooden and Jamison, 2005 p.289-290). The next step is completing an assessment tool or survey which will allow opportunities as we proceed forward with creating and defining our organizational culture. The best way to determine the source of an issue is to ask the right questions to those that are truly effected by the issue. The survey will allow the participators to express publically or anonymously the specifics truthfully.
Immelt as a Leader Jeffrey Immelt is an agent of change in today’s global marketplace. As the CEO of General Electric (GE), Immelt is strategic, innovative, and entrepreneurial at his core. He has proven himself to be visionary and confident, always remaining calm and poised, unwavering in his positions and opinions when challenged on his decisions. Furthermore, Immelt has demonstrated his adaptive nature and ability to learn from his mistakes as CEO of GE by refocusing his business model and returning GE to its industrial roots. He has re-clarified GE’s corporate values, redesigned GE’s strategy, and also dissolved some of GE’s businesses, all while creating new jobs in manufacturing at the same time (Heifetz & Laurie, 2002).
Leaders serve as role models and communicate a clear vision to their followers. A transformational leader takes on the responsibility for revitalizing an organization. They define from what is already in place the need for change, create new visions, mobilize commitment to those visions, and ultimately transform an organization. Leadership Case 10 What do Mr. Cotes ideas on results and learning mean to you? I believe that results and learning are probably the most important parts of learning and leadership to rely on in business. It was neat to read that he is focused on getting results in the right ways. It is very important to set your company up for success in the future while still maintaining the results one is trying to achieve. I believe that learning somewhat comes from being enthusiastic and always willing to try new things.
