Henry was exposed to the pull of the factions but a new aristocratic approach to the government strengthened the conservative faction however with the arrest of Duke of Norfolk (1547) and the dismissal of Gardiner from the Privy Chamber the reformists gained the much needed advantage . It is through various grand, significant events and valuable changes made to which the Middle ages began and ended. Historians say that the Middle ages were a period of despair, intellectual advancement, and undividing faith towards the church and god. Focusing primarily through the 12th and 15th centuries, the Crusades and the Peasant Revolt had an immense impact on the waning of the Middle ages. Not only were great wars the reason for its end, but changes made in the 15th century greatly led Europe out of this period. The changes were Europe’s craving hunger for knowledge and the Church’s decline in power.
For example, in the Act III Prologue, the Chrous requests that the audience gives their imagination free rein: “Play with your fancies and in them behold” (III.Prologue.7) and supplement the performance with their own imaginings: “And eke out our performance with your mind” (III.Prologue.35). Scene changes are made by the Chorus. At the beginning of Act II the Chorus gives the audience an overview of the traveling they will do in Henry V - from London to Southampton, then to France and back to England again. The Act III Prologue tells the audience that “the well-equipped king at Hampton pier” (III.Prologue.4) set sail for Harfleur, France. The audience is taken to Agincourt in Prologue IV.
The Renaissance created a large sphere of cultural influence around Europe, which affected the world for hundreds of years. The Catholic Reformation created many new denominations of Christianity. It also greatly diminished the power of Catholicism and the Pope. The Protestant reformation was a significant event in Christianity. Both of these events mark major turning points in the Western World.
Intellectuals began to think that the new era of Renaissance was a time to liberate away from the superstitious times of the Middle Ages and to recognize the declining power of the Roman Catholic Church. Over time many events or turning points have occurred. Along with the Crusades and Renaissance period come the Neolithic Revolution and many other life altering periods where new beliefs and ideas have changed things forever. The Renaissance came after the devastating Dark Ages; where Europe lost 25 million people to the Black Death, and many lost the ability to read and write (“The Black Death”). Although the loss of lives was devastating, it allowed farmers to have surplus, artists to sell their work and church officials to be questioned (Ramirez). The Renaissance was an era that helped Europe evolve simply because it opened new doors; the spread of trade. Along with these new ideas came new innovations, especially in art (“Central School PTO”). Art further developed the way that people really saw the world; it gave that little push for the people to be able to really see everything.
The population of early modern Europe After a long century of population loss—the period from 1347 to the later 15th century—Europe in the 16th century experienced a strong recovery. The recovery did not come without setbacks, but in general the population in any given place in Europe reached the level it had had prior to 1347 some time during this century. This fundamental fact of rising population affected all sorts of things, from economics to social relations to immigration patterns. Somewhere around the mid-17th century (this varied by region), the strong growth of the 16th century levelled off. In some areas, population even lost ground again.
Music was an essential part of civic, religious, and courtly life in the Renaissance. The rich interchange of ideas in Europe, as well as political, economic, and religious events in the period 1400–1600 led to major changes in styles of composing, methods of disseminating music, new musical genres, and the development of musical instruments. The most important music of the early Renaissance was composed for use by the church—polyphonic (made up of several simultaneous melodies) masses and motets in Latin for important churches and court chapels. By the end of the sixteenth century, however, patronage was split among many areas: the Catholic Church, Protestant churches and courts, wealthy amateurs, and music printing—all were sources of income for composers. The early fifteenth century was dominated initially by English and then Northern European composers.
