Water Pollution in Lake Huron Arthur T. Plyler Jr. Strayer University Professor Matthew Norsworthy English 115 November 23, 2013 Water Pollution in Lake Huron Lake Huron is one of the five Great Lakes and is the third largest lake in the world. Leading other lakes with a shoreline that stretches almost four thousand miles, containing a vast number of islands, an ecosystem that’s home to many unique plants and animals, some that are globally rare, and a population from the United States and Canada of 2.7 million. It’s no surprise that Lake Huron has been faced with pollution issues for decades. Here we will identify the major causes for the pollution and answer how this effects the economy and the surrounding population. Lake Huron
Because people don't dispose of the plastic bags properly they get into water ways which eventually affect the see life as well as all other animals and living organisms including plants. Chemicals are released in the air causing harm to everyone and everything. The plastic ends up around animals or plants causing suffocation and stress to the living, which results to death. Plastic bags have become such a huge problem because of the large amount of plastic bags on earth. If you were in charge, what plan might you propose to reduce or eliminate their use?
We hear from aquatic ecologists and fisherman as they describe the water’s in the “dead zone” and the lifeless animal life surrounding this area. Nancy Rabalais, an aquatic ecologist, explains exactly why these waters are so dead. All of the fertilizers used in agriculture from Minnesota on down to Louisiana, are concentrated and dumped into this area where the algae multiply due to the high nitrogen and phosphates. This creates an algae bloom that inadvertently lowers the oxygen in the water through its die-off. With low levels of oxygen, marine life can’t survive, and this impacts people that depend on the gulf for their
Once you get a taster of everything there is to experience there, Maine’s northernmost and largest country, you might remember Aroostook Country best by its other nicknames: The Crown of Maine. The crown county rotates with the seasons; its paths bring a renewed excitement. In the winter, you can glide through two thousand miles of snowmobile trails. Africa and Florida’s environment both have issues and damages. The damages of the environment affect the animals that live in the area. Florida is known for its pollution in certain areas and this is what hurts the animals, from ranches and farms polluting the watered area where animals live they die off because of what is thrown in the water. In 1990, Florida Legislature banned drilling. This drilling happened on the coast-line with this happening most drilling comes with oil and with oil in the way of an animal they’ll get covered in it and soon die.
Many worry about the negative consequences Global Warming may have on our Earth. It is believed that there will be detremental effects from sea to land. A rise in water levels causing the icecaps to melt. Melting icecaps would then release methane another greenhouse gas. The oceans salt water would mix with freshwater and CO2 would get absorbed into the oceans causing disabling effects on our waters food chain.
