During my time in this class, so many things struck me hard. I am a self admitted naive person who was sheltered by my family for pretty much my entire life. Even as an adult, I have somewhat sheltered myself. I guess I never realized it until I decided to turn my life upside down, leave the “real world” and come back to school full time. I was a full time student back in 97-99 and it amazes me every day how things have changed.
I had many sleepless nights and so many assignments I thought I would never finish. I finally obtain a high school degree and got a job as a sales clerk at a gift shop. All my life I’ve listen to my family telling me why it is very important to have a higher
WHAT ART MEANS TO ME. To me, art is an important part of my life as a student. In the twelve years that I’ve gone to school (thirteen including kindergarten), I’ve been to nine different schools in seven different states and two countries. Luckily all of the schools I’ve been to have had art programs in which I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of. I take art classes for various reasons, the first being that in art class there really isn’t a desk to sit in.
I’m not going to lie I was nervous; I had no idea what was in-store for me. Jump school consists of three weeks: Ground week, Tower week and Jump week. On 18 October 2008 a Friday night I Left Fort Leanordwood Missouri a young 18 year old Soldier headed to FT. Benning GA for JUMP SCHOOL. Just completing basic training and advanced individual training I was thin, weighed about 160 at 5’11’’ that’s not much, not an ounce of fat on my body (from being starved for 22 weeks), but I was ripped and I knew I could handle the task in front of me. That night we arrived at Benning after 14 long, grueling hours on a greyhound bus.
This is a four year degree program that requires 120 credits to complete the Degree program. In the past, I attended school while being a full time mom and employee. I worked long hours and attend school at night; I was able to complete college with an Associate Degree in Business Office Technology. This is an example of setting SMART goals. After completing my degree program online at Ashford University I plan to continue with online classes at Auburn University.
Critical Thinking Reflection Ilmarie Son HUM/115 08/17/2015 Laura Smith Critical Thinking Reflection The critical thinking in everyday life course was a tremendous journey for the past five weeks. When I first started this course I had no knowledge what critical thinking is or when should it be use. I have gained so much knowledge on critical thinking, and I have become a critical thinker myself thanks to this course. First, I had to learn the definition of critical thinking, and selected the level I supposed I fit in. Critical thinking is the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment.
Throughout my twelve years of school there have been four teachers that have really stood out to me, and I hope to impact my students’ lives as much as they have mine. When my mom and I moved to Franklin, she worked at Needham Elementary School. Miss Marchant was a first grade teacher there, and she is the very reason why I want to be an educator. Ironically, I never had Miss Marchant as a teacher. Instead, everyday after school I went to her room to help her do anything she needed.
Although many people have told me that the best times of your life are spent in college, I knew I would still miss my friends from high school as we moved on to the next chapter in our lives. Having to move away from home for the first time was going to be the toughest part for me. I had never been away from home for a long period of time. I was suddenly overcome with fear. The feeling of fear began a couple of days after, as I started to think about my future.
During that time I was also traumatized by exposure to severe storms. According to Scottish Rite Hospital psychologists, the early neglect appeared to have impacted my ability to perform certain developmental functions typically encouraged and taught by parents. Because of my positive attitude, determination and the support and love of my parents, I have overcome these obstacles and I am successful in school with a 92+% average, rank in the top 20% of my class and will graduate on the distinguished plan with 15 college hours. I am involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Yearbook, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Math and Science Club and I play Varsity Tennis. In the late fall of 2009, my mom was put on dialysis treatment three (3) times a week.
-Bradford Arthur Angier Authors Bio Hunter Weaver wrote “The House on Blackberry Street” as a final project during his junior year in high school. Although he always did well in his English and writing classes, he never really tried to write a book until “The House on Blackberry Street”. What started out as a quick, simple, three chapter assignment quickly ballooned into an official document: a book. On top of writing “The House on Blackberry Street”, Weaver was also multiple-time Honors and AP student, and a seven-time varsity wrestler and football player at his high school, where he graduated a year early, at age 16. At the time of his writing “The House on Blackberry Street”, Weaver lived with his step mom, father and little sister in Pennsylvania.
