Knowledge is power. How far do you agree with it? There are a lot of definitions and explanations for the words “power” and “knowledge”, but my own interpretation for “Power” is the strength to control variables or having influence to someone/ on something. And “Knowledge” is the state or fact of recognising. In this essay, I will be identifying whether knowledge is power. In my own opinion, knowledge is definitely power. We cannot live on easily in this harsh world if we do not have enough knowledge. Knowledge can prevent us from being deceived by others. For example, we would not lend money to people on the street because we know that they are strangers and are not worth trusting. Therefore, we can live in a smart way when we have enough knowledge and apply it to our daily lives. The best evident for “knowledge is power” is learning in school. We have to be students and learn in school because knowledge is what we have to gain in order to work and realise our responsibility to the world in the future. Knowledge is like a treasure, it is so precious that everyone wants more of it. However, knowledge is not gained by force, but by persistence and correct attitude. Since knowledge is so powerful, we cannot imagine how much influence it has towards our lives. Knowledge is power when a person applies his/her knowledge after gaining it. For example, we can find a job related to the knowledge we have to help others, such as being a doctor. However, if a person does not use his knowledge in anywhere after he has gained it, knowledge cannot be power for him/her. For example, a teenager left school after 16 and stays at home doing nothing every day, his knowledge gained in school may not be a power for him because he is not applying it at all. Therefore, knowledge is useless unless we express it. It will only be power until we decide to share it with others.
