Assignment 2: Research Proposal Kristi Ord Professor Danny Meadows ENG 215 Research and Writing January 19, 2014 The topic I choose for my research paper is “Should changes be made to regulations for mental health drugs for minors?” One reason I chose this topic is personal. My ex-husband tried to get on of our boys diagnosed with ADHD and the other with Autism. He was raised to think that if a child is medicated they are easier to deal with. He felt that if they were on medication and zoned out that he did not have to watch them. I feel that there are too many parents this day that feel that way.
I have to wondered as thought, can my family and friend that has passed away hear and protect me or is what I’m doing just a foolish family belief? Some things in life are hard to explain and it leaves us to question, is this really scientific theory, facts or just a family belief? Furthermore, Appiah goes on to write “But because finding the truth isn’t just a matter of having open eyes and a level head” (Appiah, 2006 p.44) I had
I feel that he should have referred him to another therapist instead of thinking about himself. Dr. Marvin also had an increase willingness to push the sale of his book Baby Steps for the sale of his book and maybe in hopes that it would help Bob Wiley just until he returned from his month long vacation. I believe that Dr. Marvin was thinking of himself and his television interview over the care of a patient. Betty, the switchboard operator, had an ethical dilemma when Bob repeatedly asked for a connection to Dr. Marvin. She knew that it was not permitted to do so and that all of Dr. Marvin’s calls where to be given to another Dr., but instead she sent the call through.
Uncle Tom was not like any other slave. He had a unique life style that very few slaves got the opportunity to enjoy. He was treated well by Mr. Shelby and had the privilege of living with his wife and children, “in a pretty little cabin” (Stowe 3). However, Mr. Shelby had to pay off his debt, and in order to do that he split up the family by selling Uncle Tom to Mr. Haley. This took a major toll on Aunt Chloe.
The average family size in 1960 was 3.5 children, by 2000; the average family had been reduced to only 2 children. Divorce rates began to increase during the late 1980s. Children of divorce, whose parents remarry, ultimately have numerous parents and grandparents in their lives. Previously, the grandparents in American culture were not involved with the raising of their grandchildren. Typically, the grandparents were only present sporadically and for special occasions.
There's racial discrimination toward them, Sanaubar leaving, Hassan's harelip, and the soldiers' taunting of Hassan. We soon learn, however, that Amir has anything but a charmed existence. Amir's mother died giving birth to him. It's clear he feels a great lack in his life, and he throws himself into poetry and writing, we think, partly as a tribute to her. In addition, Amir feels an enormous amount of responsibility for his mother's death – as if he not only caused it but, more sinisterly, was responsible for it.
He explored why that would be, I told him how I feel I should make up for what I consider my father's failure, despite his every advantage. Also how I'm kind of inspired by figures in history who came from basically nothing to become the prominent historical figures we learn about today. He asked if I felt any personal responsibility and I hadn't considered it before, but I did. I told him how I feel like I should make up for some of the failures in my past, things I could have changed. I went on about this for a good twenty minutes, describing some of the things I felt I could have changed, yet didn't.
Godfrey suffers from his own internal guilt of the secrets that he keeps from his wife, Nancy. The Loneliness found in the book consists of many internal and external conflicts of the characters found in the book. There are many different forms of loneliness in George Elliot’s Silas Marner. Silas first experiences loneliness when he is betrayed by his best friend, William Dane. Later on, Silas even believes that god has betrayed him as well and believes that there is no righteous god.
His sister sometimes annoys him but most of the time they get along. He claims in some cases his parents might be right about some things and decisions but he doesn’t like people telling him what to do, he likes to think on his own and when he gets stuck he will ask his parents. Usually when he gets into a disagreement with his parents, they talk to him and with reasoning they make him agree. I asked him if he was in trouble who would he go to besides his immediate family, he said it depends on what kind of trouble? If it was a big trouble I would go to my aunts and uncles, if it was something I did wrong and I got in trouble with my parents I would talk to my friends or cousins.
He would like to go for a management job at work but feels like something is stopping him and he would also like to go out with his colleagues but feels that if he changed the day he sees his mother she would not understand. He would like to ask his girlfriend to marry him but is worried that she will say no and that he does not have much to offer her at present. He worries about what people think of him, even though he is a nice person who thinks about the feelings of others. The Initial Consultation During the first meeting with Mr X, I would be aiming to collect as much information about him as possible. I would ask about his health and any current medication.
