Essay on the article: Kids are just ruling this road 1. The article “Kids are just ruling this road” is written by Claire Marshall. In October 2007, Fiona Pilkington killed herself and her 18-year-old disabled daughter. The constant harassment by a gang of kids led to Mrs Pilkington and her daughter, Francesca’s death. It’s difficult to find people who can talk about what went on in Bardon Road. They probably know about it, but are too scared to speak up about it. During the day, everything seems normal, but at night by 9 pm, a group of kids appear. The people who are asked about this tragic accident describes the group as violent, careless, nightmare, troublemakers etc. Everyone is scared of them, and there is one particularly family they all point fingers at, but are too scared to name names. 2. According to the article and the people who lives in the neighbourhood, they blame the group of kids for the death of Fiona Pilkington and her daughter. The members of the gang are very young, eight to seventeen years old. Moreover, they are to blame for all the harassment that is going on in the neighbourhood. However, the gang does not intimidate Donna Gloves, because she has probably experienced something a lot worse, when she says this statement like this: “I come from Newport, this is small fry.” Donna Gloves is not just only blaming the kids, but also their parents and the laws. She said in the article that the parents did not give them a good upbringing. Even though she is a single mother, she was able to bring her own son to be respectful. So according to her, the parents have a part of the blame. According to her the laws are also at fault, “And they've got this look on them where 'You can't touch me... because of all these politics and rules you can't touch me, we can do what we want.' But if I were their parent I would certainly do something.” The
