What makes an effective primary classroom? Discuss and debate with reference to research and wide reading, including journals, books and other media During this essay I will look at several areas of schooling, all of which have an impact on making the classroom a productive place for children to learn. Getting the right balance of all factors in the classroom is vital in maintaining and progressing a child’s intelligence. I will specifically focus on the ways in which teaching methods can make the classroom a successful place to be. In particular how they keep the classroom under control but also make it a fun place to learn.
In this essay I will explain the difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. I will also give some of the challenges that students in an online learning environment face that are different compared to students at traditional institutions. Also I will explain what instructors can do to foster each type of motivation. What is the difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation? Intrinsic motivation is doing something interesting, enjoyable, the learning t permits, or the feelings of accomplish it evokes.
Techniques such as annotating, asking questions that pertain to the reading and using acronyms can be used to aid myself when reading. Techniques should not be hindering me to read. Especially since there is a lot of reading, having the ability to color coat my reading can be extremely beneficial especially when reviewing before an exam. However, If I do not implement any techniques the only person I am hurting is myself. The “Engage College Reading” text book is giving me tools so I can be successful throughout my college
Integrating Instructional Technology Integrating instructional technology into the classroom can enhance student’s education in both learning and communicating. My Comprehensive Classroom Technology Plan will include details on how teachers can use technology as a learning tool. By modeling technology fluency I intend to use technology to widen educational opportunities, apply it to the curriculum and to increase collaboration and cooperation among my students. Integrating technology into the classroom will prepare students for global society and lifelong learning experiences. Expectations will be set when starting the course of this journey.
Language Rich Environment Caitlin Hope Graham ECE 315: Language Development in Young Children Professor Laura Carlee August 25, 2014 Language Rich Environment Children learn language better when they can use their environment to promote their learning. “The key to creating and implementing language-rich classroom environment is infusing the classroom with rich adult-child interactions.” (Justice, 2004). In designing my classroom, I chose three ways to enrich their environment to help promote their language learning. By placing the children’s desks so that they can not only focus on me but also at what is either being taught in the front or the back of the classroom. Segregating an area of the classroom for constructive play with lots of access to books and paper enables the children to express themselves creatively, but allows them to give action to their creativity.
There are several ways to study. For someone who learns best with others, having a study group with friends of your class, or someone who shares the knowledge of what you are learning, could be a very effective method. For a person who would rather study individually, they may prefer a very quiet area with no distractions and choose to retain the information in their own way. However, I choose to do both when I study. I like to read over the material
Knowing the nurse’s preferred learning style increases self-awareness of their strengths and weaknesses as learners. Understanding their strength and weakness can motivate them to enhance their learning skills and quite possibly their willingness to incorporate other learning styles. The way nurses choose to “take in and learn from specific kinds of learning material and activities” depends on their learning style (Graf and Kinshuk, 2010). As a visual learner, the nurse prefers to learn things best through seeing written material or making pictures of concepts. They learn better by having things written down in a handout versus someone telling them how to do it.
No matter how well designed the material, or instrument of delivery is, teachers must consider many relevant factors during implementation, and presentation of material; material and delivery must accommodate a persons learning style. Moreover, teachers must educate their students on learning styles and preferences, this will provide the student knowledge, which will enhance their learning and educational experience. Research continues to document, and show that students will enjoy learning, and will learn more when the material and teachers accommodate their learning styles and preferences. Much research has been conducted and published on how people receive and process information. Research has endeavored to ascertain and define how people learn in different environments, such as the classroom, and the work setting.
At the classroom level, for example, teachers collect information about a student's learning, make corresponding adjustments in their instruction, and continue to collect information. Formative assessment can result in significant learning gains but only when the assessment results are used to inform the instructional and learning process (Black & William, 1998). This condition requires the collection, analysis of, and response to information about student progress. The most common procedures of formative assessment include the following. Feedback.
Such would call for pragmatic integration of critical theories of learning and research on motivation, learning, deliberate practice, emotions, cognitive neuroscience and a range of learning environments such as hybrid and online technologies (Hoy, Davis, & Anderman, 2013). Tracey (2010) observes an important aspect that the various views can be approached in terms of continuum. Proper teaching is only possible when the instructors are aware of their students and what they are able to accomplish (Chametzky, 2014). There are instances when one view is likely to be more effective than the other based on the needs and circumstances of the learner. Thus, it is recommended that the instructors takes time to know their audience.
