Ryan Smith Mrs. Jessica Augustine-Stegman College English 1 (ENG101) September 28, 2014 Two Teams More Similar Then Anyone Would Think When you think about the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks you think of the total opposite but what you don’t think of is how similar they really are. When you think of these two teams you would think they are total opposites. Yes just glancing and the current state of these two teams they do seem different on all levels, but when you look at their history they are more similar then you think. In 1960, Lamar Hunt one of the founding fathers of the American Football League established the Dallas Texans. They both have the most loyal and loudest fans in the league. Arrowhead Stadium the Chiefs home field since 1972 which has been called one of the world’s finest stadium and has a long reputation of being one of the toughest and loudest outdoor stadiums for opposing players to play in and all the noise is directly attributed to their fans where they once held the record for loudest outdoor stadium at 116 decibels. Till early in the 2013 season the Seahawks fans, which are referred by as the 12th man broke that record with a 136.3 decibels. The 12th man, Seahawks fans nickname have been loud since the beginning too first in the Kingdome and now in CenturyLink Field where they broke the Chiefs fans record with a 135.4 decibels in early 2013 season. Then four weeks later Kansas City’s fans took back their record with 137.5 decibels but that also didn’t last long when the 12th man took the record again recording 137.6 decibels. With that being said even though the Chiefs were good at the beginning of their existence and really not good since then and the Seahawks stunk from the time of their existence and good now they do have a lot more in common as anybody would of thought with having a young team, one of the best two stadiums in the world, and having very passionate fans which makes their stadiums one of the worst places for opposing teams to come in and play and the two loudest outdoor stadiums ever.
