One example of this is that more police officers can go onto the police force, so that the young person sees them everywhere and believes that they mightcatch them. Specific deterrence says that if a single person is punished strongly for onecrime, then they will not commit this crime again out of fear of punishment. Future of the Juvenile Justice System Courts: Many changes need to happen to allow a better future of the juvenile justice system. “The elimination of some of the court’s delinquency function as more and more jurisdiction over youth criminality is transferred to the adult criminal system. Another possibility is the removal or reduction from juvenile court jurisdiction of status offenses, including truancy, beyond control of parents, running away from home, and other noncriminal conduct. Instead of utilizing the juvenile court, this type of behavior would be addressed increasingly by community-based services. A third possibility is the juvenile court’s expanding jurisdiction over abuse and neglect cases.Oversight of abuse and neglect cases and of the social service agencies whichdeliver services to families has become a major portion of the work of the juvenile court” (Hanson, 1996) .
They may have feelings of loss or guilt about the father not being in the home. The child may feel responsible for the parent’s leaving the home. Children sometimes accept blame for things going wrong at home when they really should not. While researching the literature on children from single-parent homes and juvenile delinquency some of the same factors presented regarding delinquent behavior. The literature also reports that without stability in their lives these children are at risk to be victims as well as perpetrators of violence.
Barriers come in many forms, such as when key persons are doing observations and planning. The parents may lack in confidence to give any suggestions or feel that their contribution isn’t worth making at all; they may also not want to get involved in this. However practitioner should let the parents of the child take charge on the suggestion making, instead of the practitioners taking charge. These programs are designed and can help juvenile offenders with modifying their behavioral issues, provide therapy to rehabilitate their mental state of mind, and prevent criminal activity in the long run. Treatment options are divided into two smaller categories: community-based treatment and institutionalization. These two types of treatment programs are specifically designed for juvenile offenders. These treatment programs will help get juvenile offenders back on the right track towards a positive lifestyle.

Many modern criminologists argue that youth’s who were deprived of parental warmth and affection had weak family and social bonds and tended to develop a set of beliefs that were negative and hostile towards society (Walsh, 1991). The link between a broken home and delinquency are strongly believed. Much controversy resides in what is thought to be a broken home and what defines a family. Many different definitions fit these words. It just seems logically to conclude that a broken home leads to delinquent acts. A broken home can result in economic hardships, loss of some affection, adequate supervision that is provided by two parents, and easier chance to develop relationships with delinquents.
