Such as music it you listen to it on the road in your car and on the bus. As a listener you become that music, Virgin records did a great job of this, opening a store to appeal to everyone. The goal was if you were to sell a wide range of music you are selling an idea, said the movie No Logo. Each
Music has changed drastically over the past many years. People went from listening to records of classical music, to computer generated hip-hop. The huge change has to do with new technology being produced in the music industry. Besides just new production technology, there has been new methods invented to change the way we obtain and listen to music. We used to only be able to listen to music in our own houses, and now we could have hundreds of songs being carried in our pockets, ready to play at the touch of a button.
When an industry enters a new zone or field where there is no competition and when that industry becomes a trendsetter, it will come under Blue Ocean. The red ocean is the category where many industries have already been established in the same area of interest. To explain the blue ocean strategy a perfect example would be the Apple.inc’s iTunes. During the year 2003 many music lovers downloaded music from the internet illegally from illegal music file programs such as Napster and LimeWire. It was in this time that Apple moved into the digital music space as a provider and distributor of music content.
While being criticized generation because of their overspending, advertisers and marketers target their brands to make sure that they are geared towards these people. While many are enjoying their golden years, Baby Boomers’ buying power is unstoppable. This is even truer when it comes to the use of the Internet. The generation was able to witness the transition between a typewriter to a personal computer, snail mails to e-mails, telephone calls to Facetime, and more. According to Jessica Naziri of USA Today (2015), while the current generation is considered to be more advanced when it comes to the use of technologies, the Baby Boomers are not lagging far behind.
He has a lot of help and many years to come up with this technology. Pushing his ideas to the extreme, he made employees work long hours and on a “need to know basis”. If Jobs never pushed though, the world could be a very different place than what it is now. Fred Vogelstein goes into how risky it was for Apple to “show off” the Iphone for the first time. “Not only was he introducing a new kind of phone-something Apple has never made before- he was doing so with a prototype that barely worked.” (2).
Compare and contrast between: Radio, and Music Videos. Listening to the radio, and watching music videos, is ways of entertainment. Although the radio is a much older form, it is still used widely around the world today. Both are used by audience of all ages, and have different forms. From listening to the radio on your phone, to listening to it in your car, the radio has evolved throughout the years.
Pop culture was brought into the same homes that had newspapers, but now it was delivering its message with moving pictures and audio. Everywhere we are, whether we are out driving in the country, shopping in a congested retail development or simply sitting at home on the sofa watching our favorite television show, we are influenced by advertisements promoting pop culture. Rodgers states “pop culture is created by media and public diversions.” These diversions include such things as “movies, music, internet, radio and pulp fiction, as well as, dance clubs, restaurants, clothing styles, and national holidays” (Rodgers). Pop culture is all around us even if we do not realize it. Every day when we wear or see something with a brand name or a logo boldly printed on it, we are subjected to pop culture.
Artists are now able to take a step further outside of the music industry through Rap music. Over the years we have seen rappers take on movie rolls, directing movies, music videos, venturing out into the field of clothing, fragrants, reality television, beverages, corporate positions, and more. Wendy Day states that “Today, it’s the new dope game—everyone is trying to hit a lick and make a quick buck in the music industry, it seems. This change in the music (from art to commerce) also brought about a change in the people working in the music industry.” (Day Wendy, The Ever Changing Rap Music Business, Jan 2010) The internet has made it extremely easy for artist to make a way to get their own
There were lots of ups and downs in skateboarding’s popularity but the skating scene didn’t blow up until the 1970’s, when a guy named Frank Nasworthy created a special kind of skateboard wheel made out of polyurethane that improved the performance of riding significantly. At this point in time many people started investing in skateboarding and plenty of skateboarders started their own companies. As skating grew more popular with the American youth, competitions were held across the United States which only fed the appetite for skateboarding even more. By the 1980’s to early 1990’s, skateboarding continued to grow and with inventions of new tricks such as the “ollie”, which is a no hand aerial maneuver that led to the creation of many tricks that are done today.
Without music, my life would be incomplete. Fortunately, with the advancement of technology, the inventions of radios, cd players and IPods, I can have music with me wherever I go. I couldn’t imagine my life without music and it’s my belief that those before me felt the exact same way! In my paper, I want to explore music of the middle ages. Let’s explore the types of music during this era, composers and the various instruments that were used.
