At 12:30pm, CST, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, arrives in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, riding in a convertible limo with his wife, Jackie Kennedy, Texas governor John Connally, and his wife, Nellie Connally. At this moment, President Kennedy became only the fourth President of the United States to be assassinated while in office. President Kennedy was shot once in the upper back, bullet exiting through his throat, as well as once, and fatally, in the head, exiting out the rear, right side of his skull. This evidence can be supported by the fatal wounds suffered by Kennedy, as well as the non-fatal wounds suffered by Governor Connally. However, there have been a number of witnesses who have testified that they heard multiple shots, 3 to 4, fired that fateful day. Five days after the assassination, on November 27, 1963, the recently sworn-in President, Lyndon B. Johnson, establishes the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of President Kennedy. Ten months later, on September 24, 1964, the Warren Commission produces an 888-page report with their findings on the JFK assassination and presents it to LBJ. Three days after the report is received by LBJ, it is made public. During their investigation, they concluded that both Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby acted alone in their respective acts. One of the main points of the Warren Commission was the Single Bullet Theory. This theory stated that a single bullet caused the non-fatal wounds to JFK and all the wounds to Connally. During preparation for the motorcade, President Kennedy made it understood that he wanted to be as close and personal with the Dallas citizens as possible. He was able to accomplish this by riding along the route with the top down on his convertible limo. Strategically, this was a very poor decision. By leaving the top down on the car, he was now in open view with nothing between him and the muzzle of a shooter’s gun other than air. This is the point where I feel it’s necessary to back the Secret Service, FBI, and CIA when I say they were not at fault, nor should be held accountable for “inadequate protection”. This decision rests solely upon the President himself. On a side note, I am from Southlake, Texas, a small suburb of Dallas. When I was 12, I visited the Sixth Floor Museum and walked the Grassy Knoll with my father. Although this memory is a little fuzzy due to how long ago it was, I can still pull from my own personal experiences. I remember looking through the window next to the one where Oswald’s rifle was stationed when he fired the kill shot. I remembered seeing the yellow “X” on the pavement Taylor
