Doddle was obviously attempting to do something that may have killed him but he’d tried anyways. His brother being ashamed of him being invalid brother, wanted to train him run, swim, climb trees and fight. But because of his brother having to go to school and Doddle being sick, they were a bit behind they’re scheduled. What Others See The Red Badge of Courage is a novel that goes in to the mind and life of a teenage boy, and scrutinizes his actions during the Civil War. The teenage boy, Henry Fleming, is clouded by his fantasies of becoming a war hero and receiving the glory. Henry enters the Civil War as boy, but through a series of battles and events his character evolves and matures. His façade quickly fades away in his journey through war and interactions with others. Out of the many transformations Henry goes through, he changes the most from altering his childish ways to become more of an adult.
“Jack ran until he couldn’t feel the pain of the war, couldn’t feel the eyes of his platoon behind him.” Here in this line shows that at this point he was not a hero. He is a person who was scared for his own life. “No one had ever survived the camps and he had no idea what he was up against but he was determined to get his men back even if that meant certain and instant death.” Here it shows that he had put away his personal gain and became a hero. Another quote “The difficulty in life is the choice” by George Moore. This quote relates to this story because Jack had to make a difficult choice, he could have saved himself and be known as a coward or wrest his life to save his men and be known as a hero.
He starts with the present, son begging his father to tell him a new story. Of all the stories in the world, the father cannot think of an original story to tell his awaiting son. The father is afraid that his son will soon give up on him and not come back. The poem than flashes to the future, father depressingly watching his beloved son pack up and leave. But that is not here
Throughout the novel, Paul slowly loses his hope that he will ever get out of the war alive, and he begins to think that even if he does survive, he will not fit back into the normal routine of his community back home. But Paul survives, and just days before the war ends, he is killed. The novel ends with his death, displaying
The Battle of Courage “The Red Badge of Courage”, by Stephen Crane, is about a young boy that is excited to be able to join the army and serve his country. Being young and inexperienced, Henry Fleming doesn’t realize that his biggest battle isn’t going to be with other men, but in fact within himself. The book by Stephen Crane is written about some of the battles during the Civil War but is focused on the main character Henry and his battle of courage. Henry was excited to join the army, but his mother had discouraged him to join. When he signed his name and told his mother that he was leaving to fight the war, he did not get the response he was looking for.
Incredibly he has to fill these shoes of glory and honor which makes his goal a very challenging one. He still lives in his boyish phase in which he is questioning his next actions and whether or not his father is actually dead. However, Athena visits and speaks to him about the possibility of his father’s survival, and gives him guidance to his next move. From this action I can conclude that Telemachus still needs much advice on how to become a leader. What stands out as well is his position against his mother’s resentment of the bard’s song which entails of the heroes who fought in the battle of Troy.
Moments after, Jeff learned that he had to try his best to save Mark, he had to be strong and courageous. His father told him,”If not courage...have enough love for you brother…” Jeff replies with,”What was the name of the of that little town?” Jeff finally found his courage, thanks to all the love he has for Mark. He finally made up his mind to try his best to save Mark. “Can't stop Mark is in trouble!” When he finally made it out of the canyon he got tired and wanted to rest but he continued because he knew how important it was for Mark to get help. Finally, as Jeffs makes it out of the canyon he tries to find a quick way to get to the little town and find help for Mark.
At what point is the belittlement of remaining silent worse than the dangers of speaking out? After listening to King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, I think he knew that he would eventually die for his endless protests and loud, well-known opinion against segregation. “I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as the people will get to the promise land” (King). He followed his beliefs with such strong dedication that he risked losing his life everyday. King woke up every morning uncertain as to what the day may bring him, and death was a very likely option.
The most important theme shown in this film is to never give up. Never giving up is important to everyone because if we do give up on something then it affects that person for maybe their entire life or for a while. Dre parker shows us to never give up while he is doing his practising because if he did give up then he wouldn’t be able to defend himself if he is getting bullied. He also shows us never giving up when he breaks his leg in the tournament he still wants to participate so badly. Mr Han asks him why he badly wants to fight he says “Because I'm still scared.
