Can you always trust what your closest friends say? Not everyone can be trusted, not even your closest friends. Everyone lies, everyone cheats and everyone can be deceiving at times. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller uses Abigail Williams to convey the theme of deception. It does not matter how young or innocent one may look they can still deceive you.
Theme Work Tangerine- Things are not always what they seem. Paul sees things, but his parents seem to see the opposite. While Paul’s family sees Erik and thinks of him as a flawless football playing son, Paul sees him as a threat to everybody. In front of his parents, Erik acts like the perfect kind person, when really, he’s a horrible person that fights with people, robs houses, and whose personality is a turn off to everybody. Telling his parents what awful things Erik does won’t make them believe that, they will just have to find out for themselves when things get in bad shape.
Nevertheless, the praise that everyone gives him doesn’t always bring positive outcomes. Tom takes this for granted and tricks his gang or followers. He demonstrated the disturbing side of society when he allows Jim to remain a captive because he wanted an extravagant escape plan. This strength seen by Huck and others leads to the carefree lifestyle of Sawyer. If one has strength or power, he/she acts the way the desire.
Language Department Language Arts Lies we don’t want to know Once in our lives we have heard our parents or a teacher telling us lying is bad, that no matter what, the truth is always the answer, but in reality telling the truth can hurt as much as lying, people get affected by it. We as a society always brag about how important telling the truth is, when in fact we are not ready to hear it. According to the dictionary the meaning of ‘Truth’ is the true facts about something, rather than the things that have been invented or guessed, and of course it’s better to tell the truth than lying, but the truth can hurt as much as telling a lie and we are not ready to hear it if we react in a bad way. In the story ‘like the sun’ we see a man only saying the truth for a day, and instead of getting nice treats for doing the right thing, he gets bad consequences. Sekhar’s boss asks him to come to his house with him and tell him his truthful opinion on his singing, telling him that he can have 10 days to check the tests, but in that moment he needed to focus on his music “Well, you must listen with a free mind.
It warms the heart of the reader and motivates them to do something to help the children that are being abused. The book shouldn’t be read by younger children or people who are easily grossed out by gory details because it’s a very graphic and disturbing book. If people can’t handle the graphic details, they should at least be told a summary of what the book is about and what happens to him and how he feels. David inspired me by showing that even a young child, incapable of caring for themselves, can get through horrible, life threatening incidences and grow up to be a successful, loving man. Next time I think I have a rough life, I can think about how he grew up, and gain the motivation I need to better my life and achieve my
Rayona hates it more than anything that when she goes anywhere, people poke fun at her and make racial remarks to her which makes her feel insecure about herself. When Ray meets Foxy for the first time, Father Tom introduces her and Foxy says, “Your Christine’s kid…The one whose father is a nigger” (Dorris 44). Not only does Rayona have to deal with racism her mother is always putting her in bad situations. There has been quite a few times where Christine has attempted to leave Ray and told her that she wanted to commit suicide. One time in the very beginning of the story Elgin goes to visit Christine in the hospital, Rayona had not seen him in 5 months and Christine did not want to tell him about her sickness.
“If you’ve done something your boss is not going to like it is far better that yourself bring him the bad news “ (Pg 159). When sweeping a lie or mistake under the rug, like it never even happened, remember that it wont be too long till someone comes along, trips on the rug, and reveals your secret. “Bad news has a habit of spreading. It is always better to create your own trial scene than to let someone else rig one up” (Pg 159). People are more likely to respect an individual who comes right out and admits his/ her mistakes rather than waiting till they are uncovered.
If someone does have too much pride they are often to stubborn to admit that they are wrong. Which in some cases lead to a life of crime. If a child would lie to their parents that would be so simple as to just hitting their sibling, or forgetting to take the trash out. After they would get caught up in the lie they would continue lie, and lie, and lie. It’s not that they are stupid; it’s just that their pride makes them do stupid stuff, as to admitting to their mistake and telling the truth.
It was injustice beacause it was a horrible event, he didn’t get what he deserved, and it allows others to get away with the idea of doing wrong without being fully punished. You should consider this a case where justice went
