Example 1: We are all made in the image of God as the Bible tells us in Genesis 1: 26-27; Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. After every day of creation God said that it was good; but after the creation of man God said, “That it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31) God’s plan was for man to rule over everything that God had created, but we made a mess of it. Sin entered the equation caused by man’s worldly desires to choose between following what God had told them to do and acting upon the temptation that was presented by the devil. In 2009 my wife and I, we believe, were called into ministry as house parents at a children’s home in Valdosta, Georgia. The kids and the situations that they come from broke our hearts.
Passover may have been to provide the background stage and connect the Jesus’s Sermon on the Bread of Life. The Passover season was also one rich in the symbolism of the unleavened bread (Exodus 12:8-15) Towns 2002. God instituted the feast of ingathering as a special fall harvest for the ancient nation of Israel (Exodus 23:16; 34:22). The Israelites were instructed to bring a tenth of their harvest along with all firstborn animals of their herds and flocks to a specific location for celebration with other families by feasting and sharing their harvest with the needy and less fortunate (Deuteronomy 14:22-27) Walker 2004 Jesus kept the feast of the tabernacles (John 7:2-8, 34-40). Jews still observe this feast today it’s known as the “Sukkot” which derives its name from the Sukkah or temporary dwelling.

The significant connection in all three words is in its meaning, which the Oxford Dictionary has defined thoroughly, “preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss; deliverance from sin and its consequences.” The essence therefore is to be saved, salvaged, or redeemed. The following Bible verses conjure such a motif. Psalm 118:21 “I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation.” Isaiah 33:2 “O Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.” It can be clearly seen that the Bible is emphasizing the definition that surrounds salvation. The Koran on the other hand teaches that only those who believe will be saved.
Bush states some commentators believe a temporary luminary, an aurora like meteor, performed the office of the sun for the first three days and nights. However, he believes that a series of evenings and mornings (24-hour days) created a peculiar kind of day of undefined degree; each of the six indefinite days or periods, being made up of an equally unlimited number of common or twenty-four hour days. Day is the singular use of an evening and morning. The plural of a day is a collection of all the evenings and mornings and can be expressed as a designated period of time; the age. Delitzsch states, “The appearance of light is the first morning of creation, but does not absolutely do away with darkness; light and darkness are separated, that from this time forth they may alternate in conformity with law.” Delitzsch agrees with Augustine that the “Days of God are intended, and with Him a thousand years are but as a day that is

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN AND THE EIGHT SIGN MIRACLES SUBMITTED TO PROFESSOR K.G. PHILLIPS BIBL323_B04 12 JUNE 2015 BY ELIZABETH J. RAVER ©ravere@wordpress.com Jesus’ pre-existent state, as well as His deity, essence, and incarnation are revealed in the Gospel of John. One of the ways John illustrates Jesus’ deity is through the signs and miracles that He did during His three-year ministry. John built his entire account on these eight signs, or miracles. A summary of his gospel can be found in John 20:31: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” The miracles that John speaks of in his gospel reveal the manifest deity of Jesus Christ.
As a Christian we have accepted that the Bible contains the true Word of God written by apostles who received divine inspiration to guide the recorded works. We have accepted that the Bible contains only those works that have passed the test of canonicity. The test of canonicity along with the acceptance of the Bible being the one true Word of God provides the authority that we accept as Christians. “The Canon is the standard by which the sixty six books in the bible and their content were determined and the basis upon which they were included in Scripture.” (Towns, 2008, pg. 29) The testing of canonicity involves four basic principles.
The egg brings forth all the things that now exist: the sun, moon, planets, stars, and the earth with its mountains, valleys, stream, lakes, all living creatures, including the first humans. In like manner, Raven flies through the darkness and finds a new land, for which he calls Earth. One day, he notices a giant pea pod and watches it as it splits open and produces a man. He creates the ox and caribou for the man to eat but tells him not to harm them. He continues to create animals, but then creates a woman to be the man’s companion.
Comparison in the Creation of Enkidu in Gilgamesh and Adam in Genesis The Epic of Gilgamesh is said to bear resemblances to the story of creation as accounted in the book of Genesis in the Bible. This is quite an interesting discovery given that the Epic of Gilgamesh predates the Bible by more than 1,000 years. One of the most striking resemblances is that of the creation of Enkidu in the Epic of Gilgamesh and Adam in Genesis. In the Bible, the book of Genesis has an account of how things were created. It started with God creating the heavens and the earth and then the formation of light and darkness.
