After reading “In Computers” by Alan P. Lightman several times the idea of technology came into my head. In the first part of the poem it was as if he was sharing pictures that are defaulted desktops on most computers. In this day and age of technology people do not have to go anywhere to see nature, we simply can just look at our defaulted desktops or look in the Internet. All the scenes Lightman is describing I can see photos of them that are pre- programmed on to my computer. When describing the visuals, I can see someone at work daydreaming about there nature background on there computer, closing there eyes, and visualizing as if they where there. In the second part of the poem my interpretation is similar to the first part that people don’t have to go anywhere to see nature, it can be seen on computers or through the Internet. In this part though it goes more it to detail on that they will teach themselves on how it would feel to be actually out in nature. Therefore they actually feel almost as if they have actually visited locations like the scenes in the first part of the poem. Throughout the poem it says that everything will be stored and “nothing will be lost.” Even though computers can have there downfalls and loose information, but for the most part you can save everything on separate devices. Also even if everything did get lost on a computer, people can still access pictures of nature on the Internet. Therefore photos of nature will never be erased they will always be accessible to
