The class of 2020 is something special and I mean it. I’ve been in middle school for the last three years and every year someone says that their grade is special. But how can anything be special when everything is special? So let me just say that our grade is actually special, we are the outliers in the data, the unimaginable in the nonfiction. And that makes today even more memorable because it will be the last time all of us are in the same room together. Let me tell you, if it were up to me I would go back in a shrink machine and start middle school all over again. But shrink machines do not exist, and part of the beauty in growing up is that time only moves forward. We are all moving on, following different dreams. If we come on strong it is because we care. If we seem obnoxious it is because we aren’t perfect. If we act argumentative it is because we are, and sometimes I think that that is a beneficial trait. If we seem loud it is because either a. We are having fun or b. We are driving each other crazy. And we’re never boring, even though I’m probably contradicting that with this speech. We’re never the people who will slide by with the C, the person who goes up to bat and gets the single. Our grade are the people who strive when they struggle, our grade would get the home run. The fact that we are not stupid can be credited to our superb teachers and parents, who will never stop mentoring us even though some of us think we’ve outgrown them (and some of us, like Kai literally have outgrown them). Sure we have our faults, but I love that about all of you. No grade is ever perfect, but thanks to all of us, sometimes I think we’ve come pretty darn close to perfection, and sometimes I think we’ve come pretty close to
