These tremendous storms bring great harm to buildings and property, therefore costing millions of dollars, and hurting the Florida economy. Though people cannot stop hurricanes from coming into Florida, they can definitely take precautions when they know one is coming near them. They are one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters around. With all the hurricanes and other storms that have happened in the past, though, people can now take even better precautions when expecting one, because they know of what a hurricane is capable of doing to the things around them. The term hurricane derives from the Taino Indian word huracan, which means evil spirit.
On the 24th august 1992 hurricane Andrew hit Florida, and is recognized as the most destructive natural hazard in the United States, scoring category 5 on the Saffir Simpsons scale. It formed as bands of clouds close to the equator where the air is moist. A centre of low pressure forms, and the air begins to spiral in towards the low pressure, as the system moves away from the equator. Latent heat is released when water vapor condenses, this encourages further uplift as the warm air rises and the pressure at the centre falls rapidly. The storm gets bigger as the low pressure sucks in more warm moist air this also causes strong winds.
Further, rogue waves have been blamed for ripping the bow off of a Norwegian freighter near the tip of South Africa in 1974, almost capsizing the Queen Elizabeth in 1942 off the coast of Greenland, striking the Queen Elizabeth H in 1995, and for swamping military aircraft carriers and tearing tankers in half (McDonald A21). These waves have also been immortalized in popular culture, as evidenced by the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure and its 2006 remake Poseidon. These huge waves are called rogue waves—or monster or freak waves—and can be encountered during bad weather storms or even in calm seas, but the fundamental aspect is that they appear with little warning. The biggest problem is the lack of scientific data from shipboard measurements of such waves because of their propensity to appear quickly and without warning. Rogue waves can also disappear as quickly as they form.

NOORDIYANA F MOHAMAD REACTION ESSAY Hurricane Sandy due to Global Warming In the article “Sandy: Act of God or Act of Man?” (Los Angeles Times, November 1st 2012) by editor of LA times claims that Global Warming may have caused Hurricane Sandy. There are debates and argues about the relationship of Global Warming and Hurricane Sandy. “Pundits and politicians were arguing about that even before the massive storm struck the Atlantic coast; now that it has moved on, after killing 50, flooding the New York subway system, ripping away chunks of New Jersey's coastline and causing myriad other damage that will place Sandy among the most expensive natural disasters in U.S. history, it's a more pressing question.” (para. 1). The arguments involved myriad of people claiming whether or not Global Warming has anything to do with Hurricane Sandy.
Hurricanes and tsunamis are two of the many natural disasters in the world. They are very different but yet alike and affect people in the world everyday. To further examine the natural disasters, let us take a look at the formation, death toll, and reconstruction cost of hurricanes and tsunamis. Many scientists have researched and studied how hurricanes and tsunamis are formed. Hurricanes, also called typhoons in other parts of the world, start as thunderstorms.
The True Understanding of Hurricane Katrina In the essay, “Hurricane Katrina: Investigating the U.S. Government’s Failed Response” the author, Eliza Hubbard writes about the situations that accrued in Hurricane Katrina, which is one of the most destructive tropical storms ever to hit the United States. It affected many parts of the coastal areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama on August 29th, 2005, it affected New Orleans, Louisiana the most by causing the levees, which helped the flow of the river and stop flooding, to collapse. This lead to flooding in the city, where many bodies still lie beneath the dirty waters filled with debris. Hurricane Katrina attacked in two ways, one being the hurricane itself and the other being the flooding throughout New Orleans. The effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans was extremely severe, resulting from one of the most deadly natural disasters in U.S. history.

Ninurta smarted off that Ea did it and he Ea knew everything and makes his own rules. Ea asked Enlil how he could so senselessly bring down the flood. Then he told Enlil that he didn’t tell Utnaplishtim of the flood, he learnt of it in a dream.
A truck honked at him, then yelled out the window calling him an idiot, but the driver didn’t realize he had autism. This situation seems very sad to me because Raymond didn’t understand that he should of continued to cross the street even though the sign said, “don’t walk”. 3. This movie gave a very realistic portrayal of the psychological concept. The actor who played Raymond executed the role perfectly.
