Provide Support for Journeys Aspects and factors to consider when planning journeys may relate to the individual, the journey itself, and health and safety. To provide effective support for an individual on a journey I begin by considering their specific needs, how the journey is going to develop, the outcome of the journey, and any health and safety factors that may be relevant to the journey. Possible risks that may develop whilst on a journey include; accidents involving the individual or others, illness, large crowds, adverse weather and vehicle breakdown. There are various ways to minimise possible risks, these include carrying a first aid kit, a mobile phone and pre planning. In addition, for each individual I will consider, medication needs, toileting requirements suitable footwear and clothing and also bus pass or money necessary to complete the journey successfully and as independently as possible.
Understanding behaviours like this, and understanding what causes them, will assist a Public Service and anybody who works within them. This is because they will be able to stop aggressive or troublesome behaviour before it starts. They will also know specific techniques on dealing with it. The Police Service is not the only Public Service that requires this understanding, every other service will require it too. The ambulance and paramedics will need this because some people will get aggressive when the paramedics try and help them, this is because they may be frightened or confused, and knowing these signs will help the service to calm them down and use the best techniques available to them.
This means that all individuals can tell the health and social care service what there likes and dislikes are so that the individuals can control and make their own decisions on what they want to do in their everyday life. Also, this is especially important when vulnerable individuals cannot look after themselves or require help which are individuals included in personal care help. Another important element to plan care and empowerment for individuals is when they need support because they cannot talk for themselves, for example; an individual who has had a stroke might have a speech and language problem which means that it might be quite difficult for the care assistant to understand their personal preferences. Therefore, if the service user struggles to express their feelings and talk about them, then the care assistant should involve their family and friends who can sometimes make it easier for the service user as they know there relatives and trust them
