Britain saw an opportunity to weaken Napoleon's empire by landing 13,000 troops on the coast of Portugal, where they made their way up along Spain's coastline. The French were unable to control Spain's coastline, and the British could make surprise raids against the French and to give added support to Spain's guerrilla forces. With many of France's troops occupied in Spain, Austria saw an opportunity to once again make war with Napoleon. In 1809 an Napoleon attacked the Austrian army in the Battle of Aspern-Essling, Napoleon was outnumbered greatly and was forced back in Napoleon's first lost battle. However, the victory was more of a moral one rather than a tactical one for the Austrians, for they were unable to take
Milo Gosnell 12-30-12 Period 1 Valley Forge DBQ Valley Forge: Would you have quit? George Washington had led the Continental Army through battle after battle, and only won two minor battles. While the British set up comfortable quarters in Philadelphia, George Washington had his men build uniform huts in Valley Forge, a few miles away. Sickness and disease ran rampant, and conditions were torturous. Your family is poor and your mother is ill.
In the attempt to win the battle, Perry carried the ship’s flag with Captain Lawrence’s dying words, “Don’t give up the ship” written in it to another ship named Niagara. The new ship helped the Americans defeat the British. The British lowered their flag by surrendering to Perry. There are many moments surrounding the Lake Erie area dedicated to Perry. “35,000 American, British, Canadian, and Native American men, women, and children were killed in action from the war or died from other causes” said writer, Donald R. Hickey. Francis Scott Key, American lawyer, wrote the Star-Spangled Banner after witnessing an attack of the British Royal Navy; it plays a large role in the lives of Americans now. A vicious discussion has recently erupted surrounding a historic English battle of Agincourt, a battle which occurred on St Crispin’s Day almost over 600 years ago in France, between English and French historians. This disagreement was caused on whether the battle of Agincourt was one of England’s greatest victories or a disgraceful battle which costed dozens of innocent lives. The battle of Agincourt was one of England’s greatest victories as 12,000-36,000 French troops were killed (total of 12,000-36,000) by 6,000 English soldier whom five sixth were longbow archer and a sixth dismounted knights and men-at-arms, this meant that The English defeated an army which was more than double their own size with mainly Longbow men. The English were also very tired and hungry as their food supply had run out and they were chased by the French whom had regrouped their army waiting to cross paths with the English as they travelled towards Calais. The exact content of King Henry VI’s speech is unknown and the great speech was actually developed by William Shakespeare; thus the speech could’ve been much less motivating as the one written by William Shakespeare.
They were over 3,000 miles from home, leading to poor communication with supply lines and their leaders. America was unfamiliar territory for the English which was another major advantage the colonists had. It was difficult for the British to capture and hold territory because of how large America was. America knew the ins and outs of their own land, including where to hide and shortcuts. Another reason America had an advantage over Britain was that the English citizens were tired of war.

One of his very serious was his funding of the American Revolution. In the spring if 1776, America entered the American Revolution in hopes to gain freedom from Great Britain, and King Louis XVI saw this as an opportunity for them to humiliate France’s long-standing enemy Great Britain by helping the Americans. Though France was already in a financial crisis, King Louis XVI sent out many troops and large sums of money across the ocean to America. Americans won their independence and everything was going well until 1783, when Britain sank the main French fleet. The end result was that Louis ended up spending 1,066 livres on the American Revolution, which he funded by taking out large loans at high interest rates.
The French and the Dutch were the other main Empire builders as they, as well as Britain, had aimed for similar countries and this caused many disagreements and frustration between these countries. We know this because the British and the French had the 7 years war and this was taken very seriously as 10 – 11,000 troops and this obviously shows the British went out to win that battle which they did in the end. Another scenario was when the British were kept under siege within the fortress of Quebec by the American Colonial Forces to try and drive the British out so they could encourage the French to take over so the British couldn’t take any more colonies as the French had many colonies in Canada. This was a very important and successful win as the English outwitted the French and it proved that England were more physically powerful. The South Atlantic system was crucial to increasing the political powers of
War Communism was introduced as the focus of Lenin was on the military and getting supplies to the soldiers of Russia quickly. This was attempted by Nicholas II during the Great War but because of the lack of organised transport the food was just left in limbo and both Peasants and Soldiers starved. The main reason Government policies changed during Communism was because they were not scared to reform
