Describe the various types of management careers that can be offered within each industry (lodging and food and beverage). After looking at both websites I noticed that the lodging and food and beverage department offers various management positions. The General Manager of an establishment is responsible for providing owners with a reasonable return on investment, keeping guests satisfied and returning and also keeping the employees happy (Walker, J. R., 2013 pg. 93). The Front Office Manager (FOM) is responsible for enhancing the guests experience by constantly developing services to meet guest needs (Walker, J. R., 2013 pg.98).
Hospitality Assessment task In today’s multi-cultural society it is likely that you will have a variety of different religions and cultures working together at a company especially with new areas of the world being desired by patrons, this will usually require a staff member from that culture, one who is specialized in the creation that is required by the company. This can create a diverse workforce that has a greater understanding of different sectors of society. However, it can also lead to intolerance and misunderstandings if cultural differences are not explained. It is important to make everyone feel comfortable and accepted and to not stand for any discriminatory behaviour. One of the largest growing culinary cultures is from the continent of Asia.

The clients for our customers change not only seasonally due to market pressures but also daily, due to volume of demand for customer service agents. Our company's website has a more personal vision statement. ”In Business for yourself, not by yourself." The class text states this clearly: “A vision statement is a concise expression of where the organization would like to see itself in the next 5 or 10 years”, (Abraham, 2012, Para 2.1). Our vision statement states that they are in business for themselves, not by themselves.
Tanglewood continuously needs to hire an exceedingly large number of associates, partially due to the policy of all employees working as store associates and promoting from within, and because of the high turnover rate in retail. I recommend using what appears to be open recruiting methods, but then filtering though the applications to find applicants with the desired KSAO's. This will also aid the organization in maintaining their EOE status, by allowing anyone to apply. The recruitment methods to be used can be advertising in local and regional newspapers, radio, and television, posting opening to the company website, employee referrals, job agency, and in-store kiosks. Tanglewood should do away with paper applications.
Pal’s is continually striving to become more lean and efficient within all areas of the business, especially operations, human resources and sales. For example, data reports are trimmed annually as the company learns the information that is truly needed to improve performance. Also, the corporate staffing structure is kept very lean, therefore a rigorous hiring and training process for managers is in place to assure the most highly trained and disciplined “superstars” are managing the restaurants. What’s even more interesting about Pal’s management process is that everything is micromanaged down to the finest detail. The strategy behind this is to prevent workers from wasting time thinking about a decision - in most cases it has already been made for them.
The team concluded by consensus that Kathy has an excessively controlling personality. Many of the immediate issues can be extinguished by delegating duties to qualified individuals. By placing talented people into key areas of the management team, Kathy could run the business more efficiently and concentrate her efforts of expanding new stores in additional geographic areas. Daily purchasing is the most time consuming task for KFF. Having to track perishables, keep inventory of what was sold and what was lost, and ordering daily to replenish these items would be quite a task for each store in itself.
Doing this allowed Home Depot to attract new customers because of the new, innovative products they now stocked. (Constantineau) With the addition of HR managers in each store, proper training and the evaluation process became a focal point. Pre-Nardelli, there were 157 employee performance evaluation forms in use. He cut that down to two, one for management and one for regular employees. Distinguishing itself from competitors is a constant battle, and the macroeconomic environment may shift against the corporation.
Stephanie works for Jonathan who is described as a person everybody really enjoys having around. Jonathan allows his employees to work in different areas so they learn to do multiple things while never becoming bored in their position. Stephanie's favorite job at the store is the Culinary center which is fairly new. This job allows Stephanie to demonstrate a recipe using the stores ingredients to help increase profits for the store. Jonathan gave Stephanie a task by demonstrating a recipe using truffle oil which is a more expensive product the store sells.
| Cultural Diversity in the Workplace | World Telecommunications, Inc. | Cultural diversity has always been a sufficient part of our daily lives, but how important is the acceptance of diversity in the workplace?
