Its intent was to establish a relationship of built on the foundation of love that encompasses, trust, solidarity, unity and intimacy for the purpose procreation. Marriage was intended to be forever. Unfortunately marriage occurs between two imperfect people thus causing for discord and misunderstanding. Despite our commitment and love, our family relationships bring us both joy and challenges. Marriage and family counseling, also known as Marriage and family therapy emphasizes improved relationship skills and conflict resolution. The history, development and importance of the profession of Marriage and Family Counseling will be explored. The roles and responsibilities of a Marriage and Family Counselor will be examined. The requirements for education, certification, examination and licensure to become a Marriage and Family Counselor will be discussed. Various aspects and requirement of being a Competent Christian Counselor in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy will be evaluated.
