Distinctively Visual Elements/ Imagery/ Distinctively Visual Mechanisms portray characters, their emotions and the perceptions of their world. Focus on the imagery and the descriptive images and descriptions- please do not discuss things like the sound techniques e.g, onomatopoeia on its own. Always try to LINK this technique of ONOMATOPOEIA to how it brings about the distinctively visual elements (IMAGES). So, embed the techniques with the discussion with the imagery techniques. So link to the idea of social ladder/SOCIAL MOBILITY. * When aspiring to move into the world, one will always have to confront some form of pressure or barrier to push through or control. The ‘door’ of Frank’s study is symbolic of a social barrier for Rita, which Rita had to oil and to create a better way of transition into Frank’s study room. Therefore, this shows that Rita is keen and persistent in her efforts to create a better and successful transition into her new world. She is determined to overcome all her obstacles in order to make this transition. * Her husband Denny also acted as a barrier in her movement into a new world as he aspired to have a baby with Rita instead of supporting her to gain education and advancement at the age of 26.
