The Jewish people is being exterminated, every Party member will tell you, perfectly clear, it's part of our plans, we're eliminating the Jews, exterminating them, a small matter...”-Heinrich Himmler (SS Reichsfurher Heinrich Himmler) Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, born on the seventh of October in 1900, grew up in a middle-class German family in Landshut, Germany. His father, Joseph Gebhard Himmler, was a personable man and was highly empathetic with those who were less fortunate than himself. Yet, to his own children he was extremely psychologically abusive. He would cause scenes in public just to embarrass or harass his children. Joseph Himmler once served as a tutor to Prince Heinrich of the Bavarian royal family, which is where Heinrich Himmler got his name. The prince kept affection for his tutor and agreed to be Heinrich’s Godfather. This, later on, gave an advantage for Heinrich in the realm of Imperial Germany. Anna Heyder, Heinrich’s mother, was very unlike her husband; she was very permissive and spoiled young Heinrich and his siblings. She was devoutly Catholic, very formal, distant and believed in proper manners. Heinrich had two brothers. Gebhard, born in 1898, was the eldest of them and Ernst the youngest born in 1905. When Heinrich was born he was not a healthy child. He developed a serious respiratory disease at the age of two and became extremely sick at age six. Because of this as he grew older, he was often concerned for his health and worried when things in his body were slightly askew. As a young boy Heinrich was not very popular with the other boys. This was mostly due to the fact that he was not physically coordinated. He was nearsighted and had to wear glasses as well. Heinrich was not a naturally gifted
