Abstract: Since it was built at 1908, Haydarpaşa Train Station was always a monumental building for citizens who living in Istanbul. Beside of this point Haydarpaşa Train Station is a symbol of the coming from Anatolian city. As a significant historic urban landscape of İstanbul, Haydarpaşa Train Station is a subject for poems or a scene for movies with its magnificent facades. From early 2000s this building is taking a part in urban competition. Specially after the building lost its roof with fire in November 2010, it became ambiguous. Indeed, the projects, "Haydarpaşa Port" or "Bosphorus Stadium" (prepared for 2020 olympic games), overlooked the public opinion and the ublic values. All of them ignored the culture of marine, heritage of railway, natural and historical significance of Haydarpaşa. Likewise they were spoiling the social structure in neighborhoods near train station (like Yeldeğirmeni or Söğütlüçeşme). This arcticle analyses Haydarpaşa Train Station as a part of the urban memory. The information provided in this paper shows us that this building doesn't deserve a transformation with a constant function. It should continue its station function. Reference list: * Erkan,Y.K.
