Some people say ‘guns don’t kill people, people kill people.’ I agree with this statement, but I also believe that guns certainly make it easier to injure or kill many people. In my opinion, thorough mental and criminal background checks, limits on the amount of ammunition allowed to be used in one magazine, and the type of weapons allowed for purchase, such as assault weapons, are necessary restrictions that can be placed on the right to bear arms, without completely removing the right from law abiding citizens. I believe the United States would be a safer place, if these restrictions were to be put on the second
Gun Control This is an issue that I would like to address because majority of the people I know and whom I may consider friends and family have been affected by gun violence in one way or the other either directly or indirectly. I would like to propose tougher laws to be put in place for those who would like to get a gun, to those who have violated gun laws and those who are found guilty of using guns to partake in criminal activities. In deciding to deal with this law I understood that firearms cannot be out rightly be banned therefore to encourage fairness, justice and to protect the peoples right, the best option or way forward was to amend and make proposal to the current laws. It should be noted that my recommendations are for federal
Our current gun control laws are ineffectual with ambiguities that currently allow people to purchase guns with minimal restriction. Lobbyists also hide behind the second amendment saying it is the constitutional right to bear arms; however, the Second Amendment itself talks about “militia”, an army that will protect the “state” and has rights to bear arms for this specific purpose, not individuals claiming their own defense from imagined enemies. The country has progressed since the time when the Second Amendment was needed to consolidate U.S. boundaries and protect itself against foreign aggression. Ultimately, the reality is that a gun is a lethal weapon; its function and design is to kill. Gun control reform will ensure that there will be further stringent checks to decrease further incidents of violence.
Jhalan Jackson English Gun Control Guns can be used to harm people, or can protect the life of millions who have encountered a near death experience to a gun. Most people might be for gun control, which can have its positive, but can also have its negatives. People need to realize this is a world a cruel world we live in and the use of guns can also save the lives of many. So, why not protect yourself with justified actions? There are too many guns in the streets to take control of them all, therefore forget about trying to take control of the gun, and take control of a life or death situation.
Banning or restricting guns does not necessarily mean there would be less crime. There are more factors to increased gun violence than simply accessibility. Furthermore, although outlawing guns could possibly decrease firearm related casualties. One must realize that it is highly probable that this would increase injuries connected to crimes. I absolutely agree with the current laws prohibiting felons from possessing a firearm as well as making sure guns are out of a child’s reach.
In a country full of violent crime, the United States continues to embody the gun as integral to it's protection and culture. While the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution grants the people the right to bear arms, the people must on the contrary protect themselves from those who bear them. In my view, guns give people a false sense of security and are more of a nuisance than a benefit. Guns are a threat to the peace and safety of society. Therefore, since it is unlikely that all guns will disappear in the United States, legislation must be enacted to ban and cease the further manufacture of the types of firearms involved in more violent crime than all others; handguns and assault-weapons.
Gun Control and the Effect on Modern Society Abstract This paper will explore the positive and negative effects of gun control on modern American society. This paper will also provide a broad range of incidents in the past and present years where a carry concealed weapon permit (CCW) holder has greatly changed the outcome of possible mass shootings; as well as give an understanding of how the United States government is attempting to revoke the Second Amendment right. However, a fair approach will be given in order to provide a balanced interpretation on the subject of gun control. Administering the facts that will be provided will be given to enlighten the public on how the ownership of firearms is a right and tradition of American society. Premise Statement Society must understand that increasing gun control is not the answer to prevent mass shootings.
Gun Control There are new laws and regulations being made all the time in the United States. Politicians think that by making these new laws it will fix their current problems. This is the case right now with the problems they are having with gun control. There is another side to this as well, if well behaved citizens want to carry a concealed weapon they can and this could help prevent bad occurrences from happening. If the right people carry guns it would make for a safer community.
Caleb Robbs Mrs. Hodgdon English III 2 May 2013 Gun control What do people think about when they hear gun control? Do thing about overruling or safety? The second amendment allows people the right to bear arms, it also allows people to own guns for self-defense and hunting. The government should not try and change the 2nd Amendment. They should not be able to take away our rights that were given to us long ago.
Killing people during war time should not count as a sin for many reasons. During war the army will have to protect the future of its country and avoid or minimize the damage that could occur, so it must defend and protect the land and innocent people who live there. Killing in an event of war isn’t sinful when the army is defending its land against the attacking country because if the defending army doesn’t defend or protect its land and people then they will get killed by the attacking army and therefore the attacking army will invade and possibly destroy the country. The soldiers also have a job to do so they won’t be able to disobey orders from their military leader or refuse to follow them. Defending property and people is also part of their job description which means that they will have to do anything they can to fulfill it.
