In recent news, The United States government had reportedly shutdown due to a disagreement in which both sides of Congress were unable to follow up on agreement in whether specific government agencies should be funded or not. The last government shutdown had occurred over a decade ago about 17 years ago, a government shutdown is when Congress declines to consent a spending bill on funds certain government bills or agencies. Although it is stated the government is “shutdown” well that isn’t really the case, many government services are still active and running such as the United State Postal Services, Military Personnel, Social security, and Air traffic control. What services that are actually affected and are inactive are regional offices,…show more content…
As for Republicans, John Boehner, Republican Minority Leader from Ohio stated “What the president said today was 'if there is unconditional surrender by Republicans, he'll sit down and talk to us.' That's not the way our government works," Boehner says that he is willing to discuss with the President if there is a way to look towards a conclusion to the spending bill if there is a way that both sides of the House can agree on. In conclusion, I believe that this “Government shutdown” issue can be resolved if both sides of Congress can agree to a solution which will end this, and bring back many government agencies and services to work, Including the military veterans who rely on the benefits. To resolve this issue I believe a revote of the spending bill can fix the final decision between Congress whether to fund the agencies or
