She goes into a description of how love has let her down and she will not be strung along, this builds pathos and ethos because she gets herself out of the situation by leaving him. Hooks mentions that she did not share the sensibility and values of her peers. She says “class was not just about money; it was about values which showed and determined behavior.” Hooks was adamant about not losing the values she obtained from her family back home in Kentucky. She felt that she did not need a new set of beliefs and values. As an example hooks describes how shocked and disturbed she felt when her peers would talk about their parents without respect, or would even say that they hated their parents. It was explained to her that such hatred was “healthy and normal”.
I think it relates but with a twist. The pleasure that Aymler is trying to obtain is seeing Georgiana without the birthmark. This is because the birthmark represents everything that he despises about Georgiana. He is in constant effort to obtain this pleasure but lacks conscience to do so. This is primarily because he does not think about the most important aspect of this obsession with is Georgiana herself.
Strength and Weakness of Elinor Dashwood Elinor Dashwood, the heroine of Sense and Sensibility, cements her sisterly relationship with Marianne, and resolves her convoluted relationships with male characters and antagonists throughout the book. Her affectionate and well-composed nature provides the others comfort and consolation, and earns her great respect and credibility in retrospect. However, Elinor's extreme composure backfires on her as she keeps her thoughts and feelings to herself and hardly releases them. This sometimes seems to cause her some degree of distress, as well as creating a communication gap between herself and the other characters. As a result, she remains quiet instead of speaking out, which prevents her from being fully in control of situations when she confronts people, especially Lucy; Elinor is often dominated by the other characters.
By being able to understand her father without him using words shows how similar they are, and how much they understand each other. In a way, she is also categorizing her mother, and later on her sister, with the sinners, furthering her critical attribute. Another defining feature shared among the family members, is the prim and proper attitude towards everything. When the family is attempting to meet their sixty-one pound maximum requirement, Leah says even when they are “trimming” back it does not help them reach that constraint. Rather than saying, “cutting” back, as most would, she says the more gracious thing, offering insight into her upbringing as well as her parent’s parenting styles for the reader.
And in someone berating their boyfriend or girlfriend, people have arguments and I feel its best that others keep themselves out of relationships they aren’t involved in. No one should be in your business anyways unless you are putting it out there for everyone to listen in. Although if a relationship gets violent then someone should step in and help. However, I feel that Raymond was not berating Cathy, Frank was. The differences between the examples from the movie and the example of the berating girlfriend is that when Cathy’s best friend Elenor seen that violent behavior was happening in Cathy’s marriage, she could take that as her business because she was close to cathy and seen that Cathy had bruises on her.

Kathy was being a selfish wife because she did not want to listen to, nor talk about John’s issues, and instead she chooses to ignore them. In a relationship, mutual communication is essential between the individual and his or her spouse. According to an article on Psych Central entitled Marriage Communication by Erika Krull, “The whole point of communicating is to be clearly understood. To do that, your channel of communication must go two ways” with your significant other. In Kathy and John’s case, John was trying to communicate with Kathy about an important subject and Kathy is too wrapped up in herself, leaving John with no one to talk to.
Unfortunately the only way he knows how to help her it by treating her as a medical patient or as an object and not as a person who needed love, not just care. By doing this he aids to her mental decent, the last thing he meant to do. The evidence as to how much he truly loved his wife is shown at the end when he finally breaks in on his wife, and is so shocked and overcome by sadness that he faints.
