The language that is presented in this essay is that we all have familiar traits as humans but as soon as something changes or you see that is something isn’t in your liking then you want to change it. The writer’s main point in his essay is that he wants to review the recent cases of transgender victims of violence. When we acknowledge that the hatred directed at “faggots” is usually less about sexuality and more about transgressing gender norms. When you think of violence the first thing that comes to mind is foreign terrorists or intolerance. But when Riki Wilchins became the founder and executive director of Gender Public Advocacy Coalition she wanted to inform the public that it comes in any shape and form. The first story was about a man named Alexander Gray, he live in Washington D.C.. Gray's first assault was when four men jumped him and beat him with a tire iron and a shovel, while the beating was occuring the men yelled anti-gay epithets. The secong assault on Gray was when a police officer shot Alex in the chest, killing him. Reverend Stephen Young stood over Gray's body and said "I don't agree with the gay lifestyle It's a practice. I have to help you get out of that practice...I hear people called Alex a faggot...I don't like that lifestyle." That was the third assault. The story was about a man that wasn't gay and soon to be husband Willie Houston. Willie was out with his girlfriend celebrating their engagement. The couple at stopped at the dockside to use the restrooms, Willie's girlfriend had him hold her purse while she used the restroom. While she was in the restroom Willie helped his friend which is blind into the men's room. While in the restroom a man with a violent criminal record named Lewis Davidson harassed Willie because he had a purse on one arm and a man on the other. Lewis returned to his car and then was in the presents of Willie with a gun. Lewis shot Willie in the
