Task 1 links to learning outcome 1, assessment criteria 1.1 and 1.2. Write an explanation of: * what it means to have a duty of care in own work role * Duty of care is a legal obligation for an individual to adhere a standard of care to foresee any harm that my harm others * In my setting, we do a daily risk assessment inside and out to ensure the environment is safe to work in and children to learn in. My setting trains me for health and safety in food and hygiene to safe guard children from food poisoning, first aid training and equipment so I can attend to any incidents that may occur. I have to complete 2 accident forms one goes in file, sign by parent/carer to acknowledge that they have been informed, the other one goes to parent/carer to be informed of incident /accident. * Another accident form is filled out if a child arrives with an injury by parent/carer, or Practitioner if injury is found during session.
In all actuality they may have a learning disability that has not been detected. Therefore parents should never take everything that a teacher says for face value especially if they believe that there is another reason for their child’s lack of success. The readings suggest that perhaps seeking the assistance of the school administration whenever parents don’t agree with a teacher’s diagnosis of a student’s learning problem. Public schools are required to assists parents that have concerns about students that have or may have learning disabilities. When all parties have reached a consensus that there is a greater problem than meets the eye, either psycho-educational testing is begun or the RTI model is initiated.
During this stage, it is known that young infants need the attention and care that their parents are supposed to provide to them. The baby will understand whether the world is safe or not. If the child is neglected due to the parent or care giver, then the child will grow up not trusting the world or his or her future relationships. “Success in this stage will lead to a virtue of hope” (McLeod, 2008). Since this is the first stage in Erikson’s psychosocial development, it is crucial that parents give their children care in order for the future stages of development to be fulfilled.

This introduces a troubling element because these individuals are educated but not really indoctrinated to support the ideals of those currently in power over everyone else. Notice how history simply do not educated children about the many Native Americans who were killed or died from disease intentionally spread by the first conquerors – it describes a different picture of how children grow up to view their home country. Functionalism When analyzing Functionalism, we should ask how would being schooled at home benefit society. One benefit could be that homeschooling is a answer for individuals who fall through the cracks and private and public education setting. The design of the educational system has flaws for people who have learning disabilities or need/require individualized attention and if being home schooled is added to education then it would be more practical.
Your involvement as caregivers and adults is key to ensuring a healthy future for our children. Considering children spend 8 hours of their day at school, it is an ideal environment to improve their health. Also, instilling healthy routinely practices for nutrition and physical activity are best to do at a young age. According to “Action for Healthy Kids”, they believe that all children should be healthy and ready to learn. Sadly, they are not.
Being a parent of three, I feel that every child should learn how to be self-dependent, this will prepare them for real life situations in which they may endure. By providing chores, this will teach them life skills that every child should learn. For parents, knowing that their child is able to take care of themselves will keep them less worried when they are away from home or when the time comes for the child to go off to college or move out. For me, knowing how to do the simple things of washing clothes, washing dishes, or cleaning my room enabled me to teach my children the same values as well. Some parents believe paying children for helping out around the house is redundant.
Sociology Essay Some theorists think that cultural deprivation is the reason why working class children fail and middle class children succeed. To succeed in education you will need cultural equipment (language, self-discipline and reasoning skills) something that the working class children lack. They lack this equipment because their parents cannot socialise properly with their children, so these children grow up culturally deprived leading to their under-achievement at school. Whereas middle class children have parents who can socialise properly with them, giving them all the cultural equipment they need. Intellectual development is one aspect to cultural deprivation.
Franklin Roosevelt once said, “We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future.” Adult guidance is the most important factor a child needs during his/her growth. Normally, parents take on the responsibility of nurturing their children and shaping their paths. However, some schools find it necessary to include Child Development classes in their curriculum in order to insure that their students can fall into the right places later in life. Those classes take on many significant subjects such as health, religion, interactions with other, growth, and life-affecting choices. There has been an on-going debate whether or not to include such classes during school hours, yet it is clearly evident that Child Development hours are a necessity.
Delfinio I. Velasquez Professor: Tami Comstock Eng- 80-32544 3/26/2013 How Autonomy should be used with Parenting Parents want what is best for their kids, but what they think is best for their kids depends on what parents think an ideal adult looks like as a whole. Daniel H. Pink in Drive analyzes how authentic motivation and autonomy are required for children potential to be preserved. Parents should use more autonomy as much as they can to let their children feel that they are controlling their own life. This will increase their motivation in many areas and gain more confidence to achieve better grades in school. Allowing children to be able to think independently and create their own behavior can be an effective way to allow for more autonomy, improving their motivation in many areas and get the confidence to achieve better grades in school.
