Honors Literature 1 February 2013 Brave New World and 2081: When Government = All Power Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World and Kurt Vonnegut’s 2081 both display themes that portray complete government control through the manipulation of individuals and their surroundings. While the novel Brave New World and the video 2081 similarly convey the idea of equality, they differentiate when expressing the concept of community. In Brave New World, the society is controlled by the government through hypnopedic teachings and each person is assigned their lifelong path. Any person found to be overly intelligent is not accepted in society because of their uniqueness. Similarly, in the movie 2081, if people are found smarter then most, they have to wear ‘handicaps’ to prevent them from thinking for themselves, being creative, or thinking too much.

Having trouble using Wikipedia today? That's because the popular crowd-sourced online encyclopedia is participating in an "Internet blackout" in protest of two controversial anti-piracy bills: The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and its Senate companion, the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Pictures: Websites go dark to protest SOPA The bills are intended to strengthen protections against copyright infringement and intellectual property theft, but Internet advocates say they would stifle expression on the World Wide Web. In essence, the legislation has pitted content providers -- like the music and film industries -- against Silicon Valley. CBS Corporation is among the media and entertainment companies that support the legislation.
In particular, Section 2, freedom of expression, does not state specifically the degree to which it can be used. Meanwhile, it is mentioned in Section 15 (1) that every citizen has the right to equal protection from discrimination before and under the law; Zundel violates this section of the Charter since he was allowed to publish a book based on his personal prejudice and attack on an identifiable group. Similarly, Keegstra, an Alberta high school teacher, denied the existence of the Holocaust and promoted his ideas to the classroom; but unlike Zundel, he was denied his freedom of expression even though Zundel was just as discriminatory towards the Jews. This is an example of the inconsistencies with a liberal view of the Charter- Section 2 most notably- and so, with a more conservative view, certain limits would be placed on the individual's rights to eliminate ambiguity, confusion, and contradictions in the law as much as possible; this in turn will give people a clearer understanding as to how far they can use these rights to defend themselves so that there is no abuse of rights. Not only that, but similar cases will also be treated equally.

(Blogging censorship) We have made it seemed that music censorship began because of the FCC better known as the Federal Communication Commission, but it was not created until 1934 by Congress. (blogging censorship) The Federal Communication Commission was only created to monitor communication, but we as a community have managed to completely change the role of what the FCC was designed for through our state of mind. Due to many individuals not knowing the history of music censorship, a picture has been painted that is highly incorrect. Many believe that music censorship did not exist until the first known case in America went to court, but that is not the
Freedom of the press was provided in the First Amendment to prohibit Congress from punishing people for publishing their opinions.
