Film Analysis Of 911: In Plane Sight

William Lewis and Dave vonKleist’s documentary film, 911: In Plane Sight fits into the finger categories of government and politics, news media/entertainment, and science and technology. The most relevant category is government and politics. The documentary makes frequent references to how 9/11 was some sort of conspiracy created by the government. It uses numerous supporting sources of information including the amount of damage done by the planes and a mysterious flash created just before the planes entered the world trade towers. This draws attention to the fact that 9/11 does in fact have numerous unexplained events, and that the government may have tried to cover these up. Three of the terrorists (Ahmed al-Nami, Saeed al-Ghamdi, and Mohamed Atta) involved in the 9/11 plot attended flight school and lived in Lantana, Florida, just minutes from my home. Floridians feel ashamed and rather at fault for this because two of the three men were marked on a possible terrorist list, but they still slipped through security measures and managed to get flight training. The local community still faces the fact that the pilot of the plane that crashed into the North World Trade Tower learned his flying skills so close to home. The flight instructor who taught this man resigned from her job because she could not bear the thought training someone like that ever again. The actions of this one man have prompted large security reforms in airports across the state, and especially in the qualifications for flight training. In addition to this, there have been numerous memorials built throughout Florida which are very popular and emotional sights for many. These serve as a way for people to come together and reminisce about loved ones. These memorials also serve as outlets to evoke and encourage patriotism. This is due to the fact that Florida is a very popular place for “snowbirds” who begin to come down from the north in early November.
