The U.S. Vice President is the head of the Senate. He is supposed to vote in the senate incase of a tie. On the contrary, the leader of House of Representatives is called the Speaker of the House. He/She is elected by the representatives. Another disparity is that the Senate is made up of 100 senators, two from each state.
Its main function is to make laws. It also oversees the execution of these laws, and checks various executive and judicial powers. The Congress is bicameral- it is composed of two houses. One house is the House of Representatives, the other is the Senate. The House of Representatives, or House for short, is currently composed of four hundred and thirty-five members.
Each state selects “well-known individuals with sound judgment,” to vote for the president; the state has the same number of electors as they do member of its congressional delegations in both the House and the Senate, (By the People, 59). This means that population matters for each state. Furthermore, the electors usually follow whichever candidate who won for their state, but only twenty-six require them to do so. The electoral college is significant because it is one of the basic functions of American government, president like George W. Bush, and Donald Trump won because of the electoral
At the time the Constitution was written, the framers were fearful of tyranny after experiencing the imperial rule of the British. Consequently, they gave the most power to Congress in order for them to be able to check the power of the Executive. Congress was to be directly representative of the American people. It would be a bicameral legislature with a Senate and a House of Representatives. The House of Representatives would be made up of officials voted in every 2 years, and whose numbers are determined proportionate to the population of the state- for example, Alaska being a small state, only has 1 representative, whereas California, being the most populous state, currently has 53 representatives.
CONGRESS: HOUSE VS SENATE House of Representatives Senate The United States House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the United States Congress. It is frequently referred to as the House. The other house is the Senate. The United States Senate is the upper house of the bicameral legislature of the United States, and together with the United States House of Representatives makes up the United States Congress. Type Lower house-to respond to the needs of the people faster since they only have a two year term.
This was used to satisfy both the large and small states in the legislature. There would be two houses that made up the legislative branch. The Upper House, The Senate, would have equal representation among the states. Each state got two Senators. The Lower House, The House of Representatives, would have representation based on population.
Clinton worked together with his administration to create a better welfare for the benefit of all citizens. President Clinton once stated, “As we approach the next century, the American Dream must be restored to all Americans, and common ground must be found amid our great diversity”. During his presidency, Clinton was able to achieve the lowest unemployment rate in modern time. He was also able to drop crime rates significantly in many states and was capable of reducing welfare roles. It was also then, where citizens had the highest home ownership in the country’s history.
Where large parts of it are written down, in the laws passed in Parliament - known as statute law and ‘The Doctrine Of Parliamentary Sovereignty’ all of which clearly outline the laws, principles and established precedents according to how the UK is governed. Furthermore, many think the UKs fragmented constitution leads to more flexibility in political matters and allows politicians to easily modernise and adapt outdated clauses. This view is often supported with negative examples from the USA’s codified constitutional system. Such as, the topical debate on amending US citizen’s constitutional right to bear arms amidst rising gun crime. The fact the amendment is codified makes it difficult for the US government to modify it even though it is outdated and highly detrimental to US society.
Then , It is the legislative branch which consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives, There are 100 senators; each state has two. Each state has a different number of representatives, with the number determined by the state's population. Right now, there are 435 members of the House. The important function is to write, debate and pass bills and to send them on to the president for his approval or veto. If the president gives
It may be said that the parties currently in the House of Commons represent a good cross-section of political opinion. At a general election, in most constituencies voters have a choice of at least three political parties, and usually five or six. For example in the UK, the two main parties are the Conservatives and the Labour Party, with the Liberal Democrats, UKIP and the Green Party trailing behind. This creates a pluralist democracy which is ultimately incredibly representative as it is a system in which the freedom of choice is widely available and the electorate have a greater chance of finding a party that represents their interests best. Another argument for Parliament being representative is that it’s usually responsive to public opinion.
